I have noticed that there is a new bin file in the nightly builds for the +. what features does this have??? and does it only work with the + version ?

Yes, only works with the + version. It basically caters for the various background hardware changes on there.

LCD now uses a "real" SPI port instead of GPIOs, some other pins were moved around to make it possible, etc.
The only "user-side" differences that can't be retrofitted to the old model are a 2nd backlight LED set so you can choose blue or white by software, and a spare analog input wired to the backboard.
