Receiver not responding to stick movement

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

Receiver not responding to stick movement

Post by c0dehunter »

I bought Turnigy 9x Rx/Tx combo. At first I used stock firmware but there was a problem - the receiver didn't react to stick movement even when binded properly. I tested the Rx with friends transmitter (also Turnigy 9x) which uses er9x and the receiver worked (better said, the plugged-in servo reacted to stick movement). I thought maybe the problem is with stock firmware so I bought a programator and flashed er9x. Sadly, the problem persists.

The weird thing is that there IS a connection between Rx and Tx because when I turn on the transmitter the light on receiver also turns on (I know I should turn on TX first ALWAYS, I had to break the rule to make the video below more obvious).
Also, the sticks are not calibrated yet (another problem, see "Pressing [MENU] on "Calibration" returns to main screen" if interested to help) but I think there should be some servo response nonetheless, right?

What is the next step to troubleshoot (and hopefully shoot) this problem?

Video, proving that binding was done properly:

And a video showing unresponsiveness of the receiver:

A picture of the main printed circuit board inside will help if you can post one.

Sure, here are some pics (tell me if you need a specific component zoomed):

*disregard bad soldering on SCK programator wire - I've already fixed it.

Maybe you could have a bad connection between the pins and the module.. Normally people cut that bit of plastic around the pins.. try to make some gentle pressure on the module to see if the servo moves then..

I know that this may sound silly.. Have you programmed a model into the TX? ... Can you see the numbers or bars change as you move the sticks?

João, that was the problem! The board inside the module was not properly mounted causing a bad contact on pins. I can't tell you how happy I am! I've pounded my head with this for one month trying all possible things. Thank you and to the whole community :)

@ c0dehunter : I read your comments. I have a very similar problem with my Rx and Tx.I have bound it properly. The LED on the receiver is stable, but nothing happens when i move the control stick. You said there board in the module was not properly mounted. What exacly did you do to get it right and make it work? Im stuck on this problem since long time. Your help would be appritiated.

From the context it looks like it's probably the stock FlySky/Turnigy equipment.

The advice provided nearly three years ago is just as valid as it ever was. See jhsa 13 June 2013. The module may not be fully connected with the transmitter pins.

It's also worth checking that all the connectors are firmly seated, especially the on the cable that. Insects back and front of the transmitter.
