Re: open9x and companion9x videos
I found these videos a while ago and they really are great - just be sure to check the " T9x + Er9x - Step by Step - Lesson x" vids too!
In his last (open9x) lesson he said (if i understood correctly) that he would make similar vids for open9x

Re: open9x and companion9x videos
I've made a series of videos anticipating the release of the Taranis powered by OpenTX.
The most recent is a salute to the guys that do all their work through their transmitter screen rather than using Open9x. It's on the General settings screens.
http://youtu.be/RHQCsIR21Ig
I've a total of 8 videos in this series on my channel http://www.youtube.com/user/PagesFlyingCircus

Re: open9x and companion9x videos
My newest video was uploaded tonight. It was a cluster trying to do this one but does meet my objective of outlining how to prepare sounds for use with OpenTX. It also has a quick demonstration of recording sounds. To record sounds you only need a simple microphone with a 3mm (1/8") mono plug.
You can create synthesized voice sounds @ http://www2.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php
Using this website you can put a one second space between each word/phrase by putting <Break time="1s"/> between each phrase -- sort of like this
High Rate Elevator <Break time="1s"/> Low Rate Elevator <Break time="1s"/> 3D Rate Elevator <Break time="1s"/> Student in Control <Break time="1s"/> Instructor in control
When you click Download to download the sound file you'll then need to right click on the link to the .WAV file and choose save as.... After this is saved it will need to be converted to WAV_Ulaw or WAV_Alaw using a technique similar to those I outline in the video below.

Re: open9x and companion9x videos
I uploaded a new video today.
http://youtu.be/YMObu3zj4Ok
This video is done entirely in the TX simulator - with no use of the Open9x companion. I start from scratch and set up a 5 channel airplane with throttle, elevator, rudder, and two ailerons, each on a separate channel. I then add two different rudder mixes in which placing switch E in the up position will give 20% opposite aileron to the rudder and switch E in the middle position will give 10% opposite aileron to the rudder. Switch E in the down position will be the default with no coordination between the mixes.
There has been some interesting discussion in RCG about using opposite AIL to counter the roll from the rudder. The point of the video is to illustrate how to do this stuff, it's not actually how I do it.

Re: openTx and companion videos
Due to requests I have made a video of using OpenTX / Open9x using a 9x radio. This is similar to part of my videos using the Taranis, but uses the key layout of the 9x radio. It covers all of the basics needed to get a person up and running with radio setup in general settings, and setting up mixes - rates - and expo. The video is 30 minutes long -- but I don't think I could have covered it any quicker.

Hope it helps with support.

Re: openTx and companion videos
Scott...
As you have been creating such good videos, I thought it a good idea that they start getting cataloged in one place.
You will notice there is now a video guides icon on the right of the forum ->
This takes you to the video section on the wiki.
Could you please add the videos in to this page? Simply logon to the wiki with your forum username & password. If you look at the existing page content - you should be able to work out how to add the links / edit text to suit?
Many thanks
Rob

Re: openTx and companion videos
Thanks. I'm not good at keeping up with "paperwork". Today I created a new video -- but it's actually only an overview of a huge map I made of all of the screens of OpenTX on a 9x radio. I'll make another map of the OpenTX screens on a Taranis once that's all finalized.
Re: openTx and companion videos
Making videos is for sure more fun than paperwork

Re: openTx and companion videos
It's been a Loooong time since I edited the video guide pages. http://openrcforums.com/wiki/index.php/ ... anis_radio I took a few minutes today to add the new videos and add the dates to the descriptions of my videos. I also ordered the videos chronologically.

Re: openTx and companion videos
New video today on Binding receivers to the FrSky Taranis. It includes the difficult to bind (if you have the patience I do) Delta-8 receiver. It's in HD so expand that screen.
