I have the fix, it is in the change I did to make sure the opening of the log file didn't happen in the middle of a voice output. Under certain conditions and timing one, or more, voice messages got lost.

I'll post the fix a bit later or tomorrow. I need to compile all versions for that.

Test version(s) posted. This includes the option, in "Hardware" of enabling software scaling to handle the audio volume, as well as the fix for the lost voice message(s).

Mike, 9xr pro latest test. I don't seem to reach full volume when turning the pot full right when serial control is selected.
returning to normal HW control, it seems that the volume can't be controlled with the pot anymore.
In the model setup/general menu when editing the volume control, the default switch blinks at the same time. if I move the cursor somewhere else, default switch remains always highlighted..

Flashed the latest test for the 9xr-pro, screen becomes scrambled on boot up and radio unresponsive. Upgraded from the first test release from the other day. Reverted to r217 and all is well.

Are you sure you flashed ersky9xr_rom.bin and not ersky9x_rom.bin?

I've just posted another test version, and I've just checked it on my 'PRO.
This version fixes the display of the default switch enables, and also tries to improve the operation when switching between software and hardware volume control.

Ok, Mike, with hardware volume control selected, I can't change the volume with the pot.. The radio will pick up the pot position at startup and set the volume accordingly. But then it is not possible to change it anymore using the pot.

João

EDIT: rebooting the radio After I changed the software volume control to ON, it now controls the volume from zero to full. When volume is very low and my ear is close to the speaker, it is possible to hear some digital noise. Not a biggie I think..

This is on the 'PRO I take it. Very odd, I've been testing on the SKY board and all is OK there. I've just tried the 'PRO and I get the same problem. Since they are using the same code, I'm going to have to dig very hard to find why they are behaving differently.

Just flashed the radio with the skyboard and all seems to work very well. Extremely well.
I have the feeling that the volume control over software is smoother, or is it just me?
I will leave it enabled on this radio. The audio maintain the same quality at a very low volume setting as far as I can hear. Brilliant.

It seems on the 'PRO, the volume value is not being sent to the digital pot, the request is sitting pending. Something to look at tomorrow evening now.

Ok, thanks Mike.. The PRO does read the pot position at startup and sets the volume using that value. But after it doesn't work anymore.

Report. Both skyboard and PRO. Voice control working with software and hardware control. But when enabling the software volume control, there is an increase of the background noise. as soon as you turn the option ON you can hear it.. Not a big problem for me as I normally don't use earplugs, but am not sure for others. Will try to find my ear plug and test it.. Is it possible to do some kind of filtering? There is also some other digital noise when the voice is playing at low volume but I guess that is just the DAC?? This noise is more noticeable on the PRO.

Thanks

Problem: Bootloader V1.7 and Windows 10

Post by KAL »

Hi folks,

a few days ago I updated my PC to Windows 10
(only problem so far was (as expected) with the USBASP drivers for my 9X!
Solution: drivers can be installed with Zadig).

Then updated the bootloader of the Pro to V1.7.
After connecting the Pro to my PC both drives are recognized but
only the drive with the sd-card contents works as intended.
The other drive is shown but windows says it should be formatted to work.
So eepskye can't read the Pro's memory.

When I switch back to bootloader V1.6 all works as intended.

Anyone else with this problem or is it just a problem with my PC?

Windows 7 here. 9XR-PRO. Just updated the bootloader to 1.7 (somehow I've missed that there was a new version) and all drives show up as they should, and can be used. Downloaded the eeprom onto eepsky without any problem

Bootloaderproblem vanished

Post by KAL »

Hi João,

my old Laptop with Win 7 has no problem with bootloader V1.7.
The 2nd drive shows 2 files (ersky9x.bin and firmware.bin).

My PC with Win 10 and bootloader V1.6 shows no files but eepskye can read the Pro's memory.
With bootloader V1.7 the drive is not readable and so eepskye also can't read anything.

Edit:
Weird thing. After connecting the Pro to my Laptop to test with Win7 (all worked OK there)
I reconnected it to my PC with Win 10. Now ev'rything works as it should.

Ha ha :) Good joke

So you found the solution. If you install windows 10, make sure you have at least one computer with windows 7 installed. When you have a problem with a device on windows 10, just plug it once to the windows 7 computer to fix the problem, and then connect it again to windows 10.. :D

I didn't mention the update to V1.7 of the bootloader as there was a problem with the version of the bootloader on the first provisional 218 (which I've removed from the test versions page).
The only real change is to support the 9Xtreme, although I did a couple of other changes that made the code smaller.

I've just posted another provisional r218! I've fixed a problem where beeps were no longer sounding if there was no SD card present.
I've also added a "Custom Check" feature. This is like the standard throttle check, but you may specify any stick or pot to be checked, and define a range (min and max) between which the selected control must lie.
The setting is in the model|general menu.

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Ok, did a quick test.
Would it be possible to include the actual min and max values? Af the moment if I want to set a range between -100 and say -96, the radio detects as if the pot of is not within the range when fully to the left. I have to set it to -101.
I think it will also need a couple seconds delay to clear the alarm. At the moment if the pot just hits the range values, the warning is cleared even if the pot doesn't stay on the specified values.

Thanks

Ok easy to include the max and min, I've just changed the code to do so.
I've already put in a 1 second delay which seems OK to me. I may post another test version later today.
