Convert er9x eeprom to open9x

If I understand companion9x, it can convert the er9x eeprom files to open9x eeprom files. Is this correct? Is there anything I need to do to save them from my er9x tranmitter in a special format to upload them to my companion 9x transmitter? Or is the conversion done automagically?!

set in preferences open9x, read the eeprom from the radio and it will be converted automatically...
Btw if you update a radio from er9x to open9x and you set "backup & restore existing eeprom" while flashing, the conversion will be performed automagically...
