Successful Firmware Update Step-by-step guide.

Post by JasonK »

Hi

Just made successful firmware update on my shinny new 9XR Pro and like to share.
Hope this helpful.

1. Have your 9XR Pro ready as POWERED OFF.

2. Press both Ail, Rud trim buttons to center of TX

3. While holding down Ail, Rud trim buttons, POWER ON TX
if all ok, you may get screen look like this

4. USB cable connection to PC. You must connect USB cable into TX COMPLETELY!
This is very important because female connector on TX is so tight and make you feel like fully inserted at latch of connector.
wasted half hour on this step.
So, if your PC doesn't show next step, please double check your USB cable connection to TX.

5. USB connection confirmation on PC
after very quick usb driver automatic installation by OS.(no need extra driver installation as PC takes TX as usb memory stick).
if all good, there are two disks placed on your PC.
Removable Disk is microSDcard inside of TX.
ERSKY_9X is TX itself.
That's it, simply go to next step.

6. Download and install eepe from here https://code.google.com/p/eepe/

7. run "eepskye.exe" from directory where eepe is installed.

8. eepskye settings

Press "Check" and "Download" buttons to get latest firmware, remember which directory you downloaded.

8.2 Burn->Configure
make "Use SAM-BA" as UNCHECKED

9. go to Burn-> Flash Firmware to TX

10. Select the file from step 8.1

Nice tutorial.
Just one thing, on newer versions of the ersky9x firmware you don't need to hold the 2 horizontal trims towards the center of the radio. You just connect the usb cable and power the radio on. It should enter bootloader mode. Trims are not needed.

First, put the firmware file on the SD card in the "FIRMWARE" sub-directory (not "FIRMWARES").
Next, power the radio on holding both horizontal trims APART. This will start the main firmware in "maintenance mode".
One of the options is to update the bootloader. Select this, then choose the file that contains the bootloader you wish to flash. Confirm the operation and the bootloader will be updated.
You usually need a LONG press of the MENU button for these actions, so you don't do anything by accident!
