Re: Sv: 9XR Pro is Here
I have ordered one. I had a 9XR and liked some aspects of it. I however got every single early version problem (sticky buttons, cracks in the case, failing sticks etc). I fixed it and sold it. Hoping for better luck this time.
I ordered the special telemetry cable that supports the XJT and DJT modules. Will the XJT module be able to run in full X mode with all the new bells and whistles (PXX, S.PORT, model match, Long Range)? Or will it run in D mode and basically be a more expensive DJT variant?

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
The current situation is that FrSky have said they have patented SPort and PXX, although I haven't seen any actual patents anywhere.
If another commercial radio wishes to use these, then they need to talk to FrSky. HK are aware of this, but have been working on Tx modules of their own. They have said they will talk to FrSky sometime. Perhaps if enough 'PRO users ask FrSky they will let us use them.
Mike.

Hy,
9XR Pro with what components ?
The Questions are:
bad stick as before
bad switches as before
bad rubber contakts at the PCB as before
bad and small LCD as before
bad speaker as before
with no akku
with no TxModul
with old software or opentx
to expensive with deliverycosts plus customs to europe
only the new board could be fine, we will see in details
Thank you, not for me, never a 9XR again
Each th9 was miles better

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
What's the point of buying a XJT module for another radio if you're not allowed to use all the features?? Nuts

Re: Sv: 9XR Pro is Here
I think that it would be nice if we kept the more colorful emotional arguments against different radios off of this board. For those interested there are a lot of people that are more than willing to wage flame wars for and against radio manufacturers and radio models on RCGroups.Helle wrote:Hy,

The main topic of this board is the open software RC community. Until yesterday there were only two radios that could run our kind of open software without hardware modifications. Now there are three! None of these are the best RC radios ever built from a hardware perspective. They are all built to meet rather low price points. A new addition to the tiny group of radios is however a very positive event.
Re: 9XR Pro is Here
How comes the Pro needs the external cable for telemetry? Or does it?
The simpleton asked "Hows about ErSky9X for Horus???". And the Genius from Dorset replied "Why not indeed? I shall get right onto it!" And then there was light on Horus! And it was good!

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
See my post 5 before yours. Until HK and FrSky agree, we can't use the SPort. In addition, an unmodified DJT doesn't use the internal connection.

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
Right, I really hope they will find an arrangement. As Mike I can't enable PXX and S.PORT in OpenTX/9XR-PRO on the compilation server until this!
Re: 9XR Pro is Here
It doesn't if you mod the DJT like I did. But many people don't want to mod their modules as they want to use them in different radios. The best option was to use a cable which is a very clean and easy way of doing it. No need for holes in tbe radio either..RCHH wrote:How comes the Pro needs the external cable for telemetry? From the Discussion on HK PRO product's page
We all know that, but apparently this radio had a stock of more than 2000 units..

Please don't start saying that the Taranis sold more Bla bla bla bla..The Pro here has sold over 300 units Mode 2 already, so is quite popular .

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
Why not, people are asking for DJT telemetry on the Taranis and I thought that was being considered by using a cable from the DJT to the serial port in the battery bay (works on ersky9x for Taranis BTW).bertrand35 wrote:Sorry but I don't agree herejhsa wrote: The best option was to use a cable which is a very clean way of doing it.
The cable runs from the back of the DJT to the Futaba trainer socket, no holes needed to connect up.

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
The same would apply on the Taranis, this cable going to a serial plug is terrible! I really prefer the S.PORT pin (on both Taranis and 9XR-PRO).MikeB wrote:Why not, people are asking for DJT telemetry on the Taranis and I thought that was being considered by using a cable from the DJT to the serial port in the battery bay (works on ersky9x for Taranis BTW).bertrand35 wrote:Sorry but I don't agree herejhsa wrote: The best option was to use a cable which is a very clean way of doing it.

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
Well lose the insurance also. We all agree to disagree.. it's allowed.. I do believe that a cable is a clean instalation and the module bay pins can be used for other systems
Also, better have frsky telemetry with a cable than not having it he he. it doesn't influence the performance of the radio in any way. And the people can still use the trainer port if they need too. That's one thing I like on the pro. It was designed for tinkering

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
Of course we would prefer an internal connection, but even the XJT doesn't send the DJT telemetry over the SPort pin, and certainly not in DJT format. You have to mod the DJT to get that to send data over the SPort pin.
Then we have a DSM2/X module that supports telemetry coming. This sends its data over the SPort pin, but unlike the XJT, it isn't inverted, so this won't easily work on the Taranis (the 'PRO includes a programmable invertor on the signal).
A simple, ready made, cable is quite an easy way to connect up, and it doesn't actually look too bad.
What might be ideal is if FrSky made a version of the XJT specifically for the 'PRO that uses the internal antenna connection as well!
jhsa: Pin 5 of the module connector is fully SPort compatible.

Will the OpenXVario easily work with the following, DSM2/X with Telemetry?

Unfortunately no. There is no suitable sensor connection on the DSM2/X telemetry for the openX sensor.

So the DMS2/X module that is coming will be supporting FRSKY D series telemetry (not X series), have I got that right?
If so, will it support all hub sensors?

Nope. DSM is not ACCST.
It will support telemetry - but of its own incarnation.

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
I was aware that DSM and ACCST are different RF protocols, I thought it at least possible that HK was making it's own 9XR PRO version of the module that sent the telemetry via the SPORT connector in FRSKY telemetry protocol, given that this is the only such protocol supported at present (AFAIK) in this radio.
Anyway, will that telemetry information be able to be displayed on 9XR Pro screen? I appreciate that the firmware would need to support this.

Re: 9XR Pro is Here
On the 9xR-PRO, yes. It is fully integrated into ersky9x, and the telemetry values available map to existing (FrSky) named values so are available for use in things like custom switches.
At present, this is not implemented on the Taranis. There is a hardware problem due to the serial telemetry data from the DSM Tx module being non-inverted, while the SPort connection in the Taranis is inverted. The 'PRO has a programmable inverter in the signal line to cope with different signal sense.

Incarnation of OrangeRX Telemetry? What exactly?
For some of us, a big question is: what exact "incarnation" will the OrangeRX Telemetry be?Rob Thomson wrote:Nope. DSM is not ACCST.

- fully Spectum? requiring the TM1000 Telemetry Module??
- or a borrowed recipe from Frsky (Hub sensor?)
- or something else?
I totally respect Non-disclosure agreements, if that is an issue here.
And I totally understand, the hardware/software/patent issues of "SPORT" only working on the XJT/Taranis Rx's.
But... if they can get the DSM working with a simplified version of Telemetry equivalent or better than Frsky Hub based Telemetry, why not? and Power to them!!!
And if it ONLY works on the 9XR-Pro, that's fine with me!
Re: 9XR Pro is Here
They seem quite quite deeply committed to replicating the Spektrum system including its drawbacks, telemetry being one.
