Menu button not working
I was trying to press the menu button to start the stick calibration but it's not working.
I tried pressing the menu button in other screens but nothing...
any thoughts on how to fix this?

Re: Menu button not working
Did you have to solder to get you SP board in ? if so you may have damaged the resistor for the menu button.

Menu button not working
Is the button actually moving? Sometimes it is possible for the button to not 'seat' correctly when you re-assemble the radio.

Re: Menu button not working
the menu button pushes down and clicks as it did before the spboard install,
i had a gen 1 board and had to solder from resister to spboard - is that the same resister for the menu button?

Re: Menu button not working
from Memory I think Nope, but it is the one right next to it if I remember correctly. It may have been damaged, but right now I can not remember where was the post about it some time ago on RCG
You may have to replace it or just check the solder.

Re: Menu button not working
is there any work around to get the sticks calibrated? after that i can just use eepe to do the configuring. I'm ot sure i'm up to replacing resistors on the pcb.
Re: Menu button not working
It is the same pin on the ATMEGA that also controls the menu button. Unfortunately there are several cases where something has been damaged when soldering the wire to the end of the reisistor. Some have melted the resistor solders and the whole resistor has dropped off and at least one has burned the resistor.RCPlaneHobby.com wrote: i had a gen 1 board and had to solder from resister to spboard - is that the same resister for the menu button?
The whole radio is originally soldered with lead free ROHS compliant tin. It has hight melting point and is quite hard to work on. I used leaded tin with much lower melting point. I soldered the end of the resistor first by adding a bit of leaded tin. Same for the end of the wire. Then I held the wire in place with needle nose tweezers and just tapped the wire with soldering iron. This way excess heat is avoided. I have a temperature controlled soldering station. It is highly recommended for this type of fine soldering work.

Menu button not working
Thanks for correcting me, could not remember if it was the same pin or the one next to it. Now I do.
The fix is actually not that hard. Get a small 220 ohm resistor, the smaller the easier, but not smd. Next remove the old resistor, where you soldered the wire, and on the other end there is a small hole. Put the new one from the hole to where you have the wire.
If you don't feel comfortable to solder this small, ask someone you know who can do this (if you are in Europe send it to me)
I'll update this post later with some pictures on how to.
Edit here is a post about the success of some one else on RCG, but for now I just can't find any picks ....maybe PM deadaim57

Re: Menu button not working
Actually for the fix you plan it may be better to get a thru hole resistor instead of a SMD.
200 to 220 Ohm should do just fine
