EEPROM version changes?

About a year ago I upgraded to r820 from a much much older version of er9x, did the "ooooh shiny" on the many changes and then put it away again for another year. Today I finally set about playing with the logical and safety switches for some alarms and because its all so different I broke down and grabbed the updated manual. (Great job on that BTW)
My problem is I'm finding that some of the settings in the manual don't match what I see in the radio, or in EEPE with the models I downloaded from the radio. I found references to changing the default eeprom version number in EEPE and I've done that (I was on version 1, now changed to 4), which fixes the models in EEPE, but reflashing the models to the radio doesn't seem to have added the additional options to the models in the Tx. I've spent about an hour doing various searches on the forums but of course there's hundreds of posts on "eeprom", "version" and "upgrade", none of which talked about the three together.
I'm trying to play with the logical switches and the safety switches for a low battery alarm using FasV (based on example #11 in the manual).
I've successfully created the 3 logical switches and I can now see them correctly in the radio (after the version update and rewrite of the eeprom above), but I still only see two types of safety switch: Safety and Sticky. There's no "Audio" or "Voice" - I'm interested in Audio (I don't have the voice mod). These clearly show in EEPE but when downloaded to the Tx, the "A" Safety switch turns back into "Safety" in the radio.
My radio is a now ancient m64 Turnigy 9x with the FrSky mod.
Have I missed something simple? Is it just a limitation of my poor old m64?
As an aside, my EEPE shows the TimeOff logical switch as "Timer" with two values to set, but when downloaded to the radio it shows "TimeOff x ON y" as per the manual example (with x and y being the values I set as the first and second value for the Timer logical switch type in EEPE).
