9Xtreme Radio 6-Position Switch Upgrade Mod This Mod will show the process to replacing one of the 9Xtreme's pots
(P1,P2 or P3) to a Taranis FrSky 6-Position Switch. Hold the left trim to the outside while powering up 9Xtreme Radio,
this will give access to the Hardware menu.
Next go to Radio Setup / Hardware and scroll to 6 Position Switch and set it to P3. Next we Calibrate newly installed FrSky 6-Position Switch.
1) Begin by rotating the 6-position switch all the way to the left, which is switch position 1.
Scroll down to 6P0 highlighting the 0000 beside 6P0 and then press MENU.
2) Next rotate the 6-Position Switch to position 2.
Scroll down to 6P1 highlighting the 0000 beside 6P1 and then press MENU.
3) Rotate the 6-Position Switch to position 3.
Scroll down to 6P2 highlighting the 0000 beside 6P2 and then press MENU.
4) Rotate the 6-Position Switch to position 4.
Scroll down to 6P3 highlighting the 0000 beside 6P3 and then press MENU.
5) Rotate the 6-Position Switch to position 5.
Scroll down to 6P4 highlighting the 0000 beside 6P4 and then press MENU.
6) Rotate the 6-Position Switch to position 6.
Scroll down to 6P5 highlighting the 0000 beside 6P5 and then press MENU. 7) Press the Exit button and in the Radio Setup menu go to DiagSwitch menu and note at the top line where you see 6P5.
8) Rotate 6-Position Switch from position 6 to position 5 and the 6P5 should change to 6P4 for switch position 5.
As you rotate through the switch positions you should see these values to change from 6P5 to 6P0. The changing values of these switch positions indicates that your FrSky 6-Position Switch is now Calibrated!

Hi Mike or João,
I have the 6-Position Taranis switch installed (P3) and when trying to calibrate it,
it is not having even values between the 6 positions.
I see that it can have these values entered manually.
If so, what are the values that I should be entering ?

Are you sure you're using P3? Which of the pots did you replace?

If it is the Frsky switch then I believe the positions are not even. The whole point of the calibration is the firmware will find out what the steps are and match the switch.

The one on the front half case on the left side. I looked at all P1 P2 P3 Radio Settings / Hardware and they are all the same.

Then its OK that when I move the Switch and it dose not indicate even spacing ?
And there are no values in the P3 6 positions hardware settings ?

When I did the Taranis with OpenTX, when I got the wiring correct and after several tries of calibrating, it then made the spacing even and place values in the 6 positions. But I do not have that radio here now to view it again.

Because there are six positions I am not able to center it. What do I do in this case ?

To calibrate the 6-pos switch:
Turn the switch fully one way, select the top of the 6 items and press MENU. Switch the switch to the next position, go down to the second item and press MENU again. Repeat for the remaining 4 switch positions and items.

Hi Mike,
I did not make any progress, I may not be understanding the 6-Position Switch procedure properly yet.
This maybe because I had a Laparoscpic Hernia Repair yesterday, feeling sore now, need to take a break.
I have the 6-Position Switch temporarily connected for now.
I will finished the 6-Position Switch connections before trying the calibration again.

Is it OK to just use what the FrSky 6-Position Switch as it is showing ?

Looks like I had a problem in the 6-pos switch calibration, relating to the direction the switch operated and non-linear steps.
I've just posted new test versions with this fixed.

I have the new 9Xtreme test firmware ersky9xProvR219e.zip installed. I am still not making any progress toward viewing even spacing between the 6 positions of the 6-Position Switch.
I am not understanding the Calibration procedure for the 6-Position Switch.
I am not understanding what items are ?
Could items also be meaning the 6 position of the 6-Position Switch ?
I have been trying many different ways to calibrate the FrSky 6-Position Switch.

Go to the screen you show in your post above labelled: "P3 Radio Setting 6-Position Switch_c".
Rotate the 6-position switch fully left. Move the reverse video highlighting to the 0000 beside 6P0:, and press MENU.
Now turn the switch 1 position right, move the reverse video highlighting to the 0000 beside 6P1:, and press MENU.
Now turn the switch 1 more position right, move the reverse video highlighting to the 0000 beside 6P2:, and press MENU.
Repeat 3 more times for the remaining switch positions and the 0000s beside 6P3:, 6P4: and 6P5:.
The calibration is now complete.
Now go to the DIAGSWITCH menu. The current position of the 6-pos switch is shown on the top line. It should be reading 6P5. Turn the switch to each of the other positions and the displayed value should change to 6P4, 6P3 etc. down to 6P0. If it does, then the calibration is correct.

Thank you for the erSky9x, FrSky 6-Position Switch calibration procedure.
Here are the digit values I got. I have done the 6-Position Switch calibration procedures about 15 times now and some times the digit values will change, but still has not calibrated. When I went to the DIAGSWITCH menu, the 6P5 reading is always staying the same when rotating the 6-Position Switch to the other switch positions. Bob B.

With the newest Test erSky9x-9xt firmware, it is now showing the FrSky 6-Position Switch is Calibrated. I will update the first post to complete the installation instructions of the FrSky 6-Position Switch.

When I upgraded the Taranis-x9d with OpenTX firmware, when trying to calibrate the
FrSky 6-Position Switch, I was working in the radio's Calibration menu.
Whether it calibrated by it self or maybe I stumbled onto the calibration process, it added all the position values at once
and evenly spaced out the position indicator bar marker's too.
OpenTX also placed a 6 under the position indicator bar when the 6-Position Switch was selected in the Radio Setup.
I am not asking for any more changes, I just wanted to add my experience with OpenTX when upgrading to the
FrSky 6-Position Switch with the Taranis-x9d radio.

Hi João,
The purpose of the several photos was to show the different calibration values between them when doing the calibration process.
I was thinking it may have value to show that these values were changing.
I known now that it did not have any worth to understanding to why it was not working.

So I bought one of those hobbyking 6 position switches. Im not sure of how to install it.There are two photos, firt one is the 6 pos switch I have received and the other one is my flysky radio. Which wire goes where?

On the first try the radio did not switch on and I removed it and the radio now works perfectly again. So I would like to be sure before I break it.

I'm not familiar with that switch, but I can see some pads labelled VCC and GND. Looking at the pot, I would expect the red wire to go to VCC and the black wire to GND. The brown wire would then go to the JP2 connection.

I would suggest you first measure the resistance between the VCC and GND connections, with the switch in all 6 positions. I would hope for the same measurement in all cases, in particular the resistance should never go to (or near) 0 ohms.

I got it. Red wire goes to GND, black to VCC and brown to JP2. Works perfect.

What rev of firmware are you using for the 6 position switch? I have ersky9x-r218 dated 8/26/2015 but the hardware menu has no mention of a 6 position switch.

I believe you need to update your 9Xtreme firmware, erSky9x9XT, look for ersky9x for 9Xtreme here: (http://www.er9x.com/).
Also a good time to update your EEPROM Editor, eepSkye.

I post 'test' versions of ersky9x here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4676#p65894.
While they are called 'test' versions they function correctly unless they are marked as needing careful testing.
ersky9xProvR219t_music.zip contains the most recent version.
