Default Warnings - 9XRPro + Ersky9xr + FrSky

Post by schliden »

Apologies if this has been asked/answered elsewhere, I could not find it.

I would like to clarify what default warnings are issued by the radio/firmware out of the box (so to speak) so that I know what voice alerts I need to manually configure.

I know I could test this myself, but, as an example, it takes hours to drain a radio battery to check if a low battery warning comes up..

These are the warnings that I would like:

Radio Pack Voltage Low :
RSSI Low :
RSSI Critical :
Telemetry Lost :
Receiver Lost :

Are there any other default warnings ?

Thanks

Is this using the firmware as supplied, or having updated to the latest?
You may check for something like the radio battery being low simply by adjusting the alarm level to a value above the current battery voltage. I do this when testing the firmware.

Latest FW 218

I guess I was looking for a baseline from which to work on setting custom voice alarms.

Don't want to re-invent the wheel and wanted to delineate between radio wide alarms vs per model alarm settings..

I will research further and attempt to answer my own :?:

These are all the 'in built" voice alerts:
Telemetry lost
BlueTooth connection lost
Inactivity alarm
Flight pack capacity (if current measured and configured)
RSSI low
RSSI critical
Tx battery low

Thanks Mike.

To confirm the 'in built' alarms seem to map to the following locations:

Telemetry lost - Automatic (no setting required)
BlueTooth connection lost - Automatic (no setting required)

Inactivity alarm - Radio Setup > Alarms > Inactivity alarm
Tx battery low - Radio Setup > Alarms > Battery warning

Flight pack capacity (if current measured and configured) - Model Setup > Telemetry > Page 3 > mAh Alarm
RSSI low - Model Setup > Telemetry > Page 2 > RSSI Warn
RSSI critical - Model Setup > Telemetry > Page 2 > RSSI Critical

Can you advise what the following alarms are used for:

Capacity Alarm - Radio Setup > Alarms > Battery warning (Is this the Radio Battery Capacity)
Int. FrSky Alarm - Radio Setup > Alarms > Int. FrSky Alarm + Alerts x 3 [Yel] [Org] [Red]
Radio Setup > FrSky xSSI Menu > Module RSSI > TxRSSIalrm + RxRSSIalrm

Thanks Again..

Capacity Alarm: Yes, the SKY board and the 9XR-PRO include a current measurement circuit and the total current consumed may be used to generate an alarm using this.

Int. FrSky Alarm: This is almost just a leftover from when the FrSky DJT/DHT modules were first supported. The module includes some alarms, and these may be set in the telemetry menu. If the internal FrSky Alarm is off, then the module is set according to the settings in the telemetry menu. If the internal FrSky Alarm is on, then the module alarms are disabled and the settings in the telemetry menu are used in the radio and the configured alarm audio is played instead of the module beeps.

Module RSSI: These are the RSSI settings for the DJT/DHT module. They are read from the module and stored back in the module if edited. They allow the module alarms to be disabled if you are using the radio to generate the alarms.

Are these internal alarms settings really needed? The radio can beep as well. So I don't see the point of having these settings. I think a signal to to disable these in the module should be automatically sent, and the settings removed. They only confuse everyone. For example, i use er9x/ersky9x since nearly the beginning and only now I have realized that I should have the internal frsky alrams setting ON so the actual module alarms are OFF. Confusing at best. I also think they should be disabled by default. I doubt someone is using them, it makes no sense.. ;) :)

No they are probably not needed any more. I have removed them from er9x to save flash space. I'm not even certain the radio needs to set the module either. I have a feature in eepe to allow setting the module as long as you can get a serial connection from your PC to the DJT/DHT.

Default Warnings - 9XRPro + Ersky9xr + FrSky

Getting rid of the FrSky alarms would not be a great loss.
I used to use the capacity alarm but could not remember to reset it after charging. Now I just go by voltage.

On my pro, the capacity monitor is not accurate anyway, so for meit is a waste of a good analog input
I would like to use it for something else. Oh, an extra pot/slider comes to mind ;) :)

Yes, it's a bit confusing, sorry...

I've r218 (module XJT and receiver X4R in D16 with telemetry working) with:
Radio setup->Alarms->Int frsky alarm->Off (this disables internal XJT module alarm, isn't it?)
Radio setup->Module Rssi->TxRSSIalrm --- 0, TxRSSIalrm --- 0 (this set internal XJT module audio alarm type and levels, isn't it?)
Model setup->Telemetry->RSSI warn 45 ON, RSSI crit 42 ON (is this enabling 9xrpro audio or voice alarm?)

I get no audio, nor voice alarm. What I want is a voice alarm (like RF signal low and RF signal critical) when RSSI goes below 45 and 42. Should I program those alarms in Voices? Anyway this config should be raising some kind of warning, right?

Regards,

Daniel.
