Lithium battery with on board charger

Post by tigar »

Hi.
I am thinking for quite some time a solution to load my taranis with lipo-life li-ion or whatever large capacity battery but i also want to charg it without removing it from the radio.
i found these boards http://www.ebay.com/itm/131188467386?ss ... 1439.l2649
and i am thinking i could wire this inside the radio and feed it with 9v through a voltage regulator so i can balance charge the battery.
Any ideas or suggestions on this?

These boards should be available for 3s batteries as well...

are you sure that thing is a charger? its description is written pretty badly but it does say "This module is used to protect the lithium battery , can not replace the charger, with Over-charge, over discharge, over-current , short-circuit protection function"

I think it might just protect the battery from too high/low voltage

That's indeed only a "protection" circuit, not a charger circuit. I.e. it should save you from a dangerous situation, but you should still have a charger circuit upstream of it.
