orange r615 and 9rx set up issue

Post by leedeit »

I am having trouble with my new toy, I have 2 aileron servos, I need to assign either the gear or aux1
On the receiver to operate left aileron, every time I try the mix assign it always operates from rudder channel, I have reset model and rebound Rx, get the same results.

Any help available?

Is your radio mode 1 or mode 2?
which side is your throttle stick? left or right?
Please provide some more information as it will be easier to help you ;)

By the way, welcome to the openRCforums..

OK, you are using the stock firmware. The best place for this question is actually:http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=37. This thread is really for those who have upgraded to one of the custom firmwares.

I can't answer your question as I've never used the stock firmware!
In the long term, you will probably do better if you take the plunge and upgrade, the custom firmwares are SO much better than the stock firmware.

er9x and openTx are your main choices, either would be fine.
You need to do something to be able to 'flash' the new firmware, see: http://openrcforums.com/wiki/index.php/Flashing_your_9x.

Ask if you need any help, plenty is available here.

With either of these, there is a PC program that makes setting up and flashing easier.

João also has a VERY valid question, which radio do you have? The 9XR does already have the wiring to be able to flash it, and also comes with a (slightly modified and old) version of er9x.

Right, the bad news is HK chose to set memory protection which stops you reading the EEPROM from your Tx.
The good news is you should be able to flash a new version of er9x, and clear these memory locks.
I would recommend you do this as you will then be able to back up you model settings to a PC.
The other good news is you probably have a '128 processor (instead of a '64). This has more memory available for both firmware and model storage. There is a specific version of er9x (er9x-128) that takes advantage of this extra memory.

I've actually changed the way you edit a mix in er9x, so I almost can't remember how to do it on the 'stock' version supplied with the 9XR. You should, however, be able get to edit the mix, I think you use UP and DOWN to get the mix highlighted, then press MENU LONG to get to the mix editing screen. Then just get the source entry highlighted and use RIGHT/LEFT to changed it ti AIL.

Have you read the wiki? http://openrcforums.com/wiki/index.php/Er9x_user_guide

HK took a copy of er9x around the middle of 2012. See here: http://code.google.com/p/er9x/source/br ... ngelog.txt for the changes done since.

You need a programmer, probably a USBASP, to be able to flash and use the PC. You could look here: http://9xrprogrammer.com/.

You'll need a programmer and to install a copy of eepe (the PC program). Alternatively, remove all the screws from the case and open it up to see the number on the processor. If this is a recent purchase, then it will almost certainly be a '128.

The first advantage to updating is you will be able to use eepe to help set up your models and to keep a backup of all your settings. Secondly, there have been quite a number of 'improvements' to the firmware.
