WAV files for Taranis
Hi guys, I tried following the instructions in this video, to encode some wav files from some clips which I've found on the net.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiibsVzJW8w
Sadly I'm getting no noise from my clips.
I've tried replacing "tada" and "thralert" and I just get no sound.
Has anyone else had luck with this ?
Cheers

Re: WAV files for Taranis
I think Scott made this video before the new audio mixer was implemented. WAV files must now be 8, 16 or 32kHz (32 is best). They can be saved as mono, 16bits, uncompressed.
Re: WAV files for Taranis
From what I see it seems as if Scott has left the setting at 44.1Khz before saving to file, as Kilrah says. The project rate/sample rate (bottom left menu box in Audacity) needs to be changed from 44.1Khz to 8, 16 or 32kHz to enable the files to be played in the Taranis.
Re: WAV files for Taranis
(this applies to Sky9x too by the way)
Re: WAV files for Taranis
Kilrah posted this in my thread on the same topic, worked for me
In Audacity:
- Open your file
- Tracks -> Stereo track to mono
- Set Project Rate to 32000Hz at the bottom left of the window
- File -> Export, Wav Signed 16 bit PCM
- Click "clear" on the metadata screen that appears
Done.
In Audacity:
- Open your file
- Tracks -> Stereo track to mono
- Set Project Rate to 32000Hz at the bottom left of the window
- File -> Export, Wav Signed 16 bit PCM
- Click "clear" on the metadata screen that appears
Done.

What file do you export them to?rcgyuk wrote:Kilrah posted this in my thread on the same topic, worked for me

I saved them to "en" in the "SOUNDS" dir.,but they don't show when I try to assign them in any of the player functions.

Re: WAV files for Taranis
They need to be in the sounds/en directory yes (well, if you have selected English for audio language of course), and filename must be 10 chars max.

Thanks for the prompt reply.Kilrah wrote:They need to be in the sounds/en directory yes (well, if you have selected English for audio language of course), and filename must be 10 chars max.
However, That is where I have put it and The file name is only 5chars. If I go into the SD card directly, right click on the file and select "play", it plays okay. It just doesn't show when I try to set a custom function.

Re: WAV files for Taranis
I've just deleted it and re-installed and it is now working.

Hi all.
I've recorded a few voice notifications as I thought there were some missing for glider and EP flyers.
They were recorded using Audacity, basically at my first attempt.......with a £1 headset and mic, from Poundland !!.

Re: WAV files for Taranis
Better would be to put all of them in a zip file and then attach it

Re: WAV files for Taranis
I just fooled around a little bit and found something strange.
I would like to have my models spoken at the beginning (custom functions with Argument ONE).
So it starts up, tells me first that the motorchannel is inactive, then in which mode my gyro is and THEN it tells me what model I've selected. I cannot use it like this
Would make more sense if the ONE argument is triggered first before others are triggered.

Re: WAV files for Taranis
That should be quite easy to do really..........you just assign your chosen spoken model name to a "custom function", and assign it to your chosen switch.NI0X wrote:I just fooled around a little bit and found something strange.

For instance, on my powered models........with "SF up", the timer is inactive and the motor is disabled. When I flick the switch to "SF down"......I get the spoken command of "MOTOR LIVE / TIMER ON". On switching off again......."MOTOR DISABLED / TIMER OFF"
I hadn't thought of naming models myself, I might have a go at that.....good thinking !!

Re: WAV files for Taranis
Ahh, I read it wrong.....
I think it depends where you place your files..........I assume it would play the name first, if you placed the file in CF1 ???.

Ah yes, that's it... Makes sense
Re: WAV files for Taranis
Don't know if I'm understand the problem well but what about programming the model name on the first custom function.. I think then it will be played before all the others..

Yes, already said that it works now
I forgot about it... Sequencial and cyclic...

Yep, that's what I did today........on all 19 models stored.jhsa wrote:Don't know if I'm understand the problem well but what about programming the model name on the first custom function.. I think then it will be played before all the others..

Re: WAV files for Taranis
Hi,
I followed Scott's excellent video (a superb teacher, whose videos always hit the mark), and have successfully recorded all my switches and flight modes. I found it easier to set the recording default to 32000 to begin wing, and set the preferences to mono also. That way, there was no fiddling about when it came to saving the files. Then, I found it easier to speak a single switch text, hit Export and save it with the appropriate file name. Then simply delete the recording, and speak the next bit of text. Only took a few minutes to do the lot.
Thanks Scott.
Duncan

Re: WAV files for Taranis
Hi,
Just to say that Scott's new video on sound file creation is great. Very helpful.
One thing he didn't mention, however, and which had me scratching my head for a while is that fact that one has to put the radio into bootloader mode before you can do what he suggests. Otherwise the radio doesn't even show up on the cmputer.
Cheers,
Duncan
