9xr stock eeprom question

Allow me to introduce myself, I am Dan and I must thank you all for your great work, regrettably sometimes not properly credited. The advice here and the great videos by Scott and Knell have enlightened me to the point where I now have an open firmware radio. My question: c9x seems to have read my model info and of course I cannot open the file to edit...that's ok. Will it read it back to my 9xr after I flash opentx firmware? Or do I have to re-enter them all? If I do, such is life, I am committed to the open FW way. I have also read the eeprom in eepe, but can't open it there either...of course the HK thing. Thanks again everyone who developed this great FW!

Please post your eeprom file. I would like to try to open it. I don't have a 9xr, but maybe I can figure something out.

Upload your file as an attachment using the full editor option,

That file is not a valid EEPROM file at all. It appears to contain a test pattern, 0, 1, 2 ... repeating every 256 bytes.
It is also 4K long, suggesting your 9XR has an ATMEGA128 in it.

Try using eepe and reading your EEPROM, then post the file you get.

Thanks, will try again. All I did, or tried to do, was read eeprom to file. It defaults to saving it as a .bin. I had to save it as a .hex to get it to be allowed as an attachment (editor won't allow a .bin attachment). Yes, it is an ATMEGA128. Sounds like I must use eepe, I used C9X. Won't be able to get to it till later today. There are models in there somewhere, I swear! Using a HK programmer, it seems to be recognized and the red light flashes on it when I attempt to read it, avrdude says it reads 100%, gets the .sck error which I ignore. Thanks again all, it's probably beginner foolishness on my part, which I hope to correct.

Read to file and save as .bin is correct. Just zip the file or rename it for posting.

Thanks again all for your help and interest, but I just flashed opentx, created my models in a file and loaded 'em into my tx in less time than I already spent noodling around with the stock files. It was so worth it. Now I know how to drive C9X comfortably and navigate opentx. Way cool stuff, opentx rocks!

Freakin' ridiculous. I'm a newcomer to this and even I saw the hobbling they did to it...all to have, what, a reverse menu and "easier" to set up d/r's? I did have a most humorous and entertaining time figuring out finding stuff on opentx, but it's all there, in spades. The simulator was the ticket to learning for me, 'course you guys know that, you wrote it!. I did have to rebind my stuff using an Orx module and rx, though, so what. I will advise anyone with stock fw on anything to just flash to the good stuff and never look back. Thanks again, I hope all newcomers would read this forum.
