Throttle warning & Ail warning at startup

Post by imagecatcher »

Have done the frsky mod, all good now (thanks Showmaster)
Just done the speaker & haptic mod and now at start up I get the throttle not idle warning and the AIL switch appears on.
I have:
  • recalibrated a number of times
Updated the firm ware to heli-speaker-haptic-en
    checked trims (?)
    ohm tested the switch
    wiggled the plugs (green wire)
checked the moded pins (3 off) for shorts
check frsky mod wires from atmega pins to resistor pads - NB I didnt remove the 220R I soldered on to them rather than remove and add back in 1/4w ones...Its tight but no short.
speaker works well and vib is good.
What else can I try?
oh...my speaker mod used 400 ohms not 390 and I used a 4007 dioded as these were all I could find.
Also...the speaker is a mylar type 8 ohms with a 40 ohm resistor attached to give it more R....is this a problem? what signs would I see/feel if it is a problem?
Thanks

I would think you have not flashed the frsky version of the firmware.

Do you use er9x or open9x?

You can get the latest frsky version for er9x from here:
http://code.google.com/p/er9x/source/br ... -frsky.hex

For open9x, the best option is to tick the frsky field for the firmware you want in companion9x.

Hi Rob, I used Companion9X with frsky/heli/audio/haptic all tick for open9x stock board. I agree its a software/firmware issue as I have changed out the switch and calib a doz times.

How did you do the mod? Did you solder the pins, or use TelemetryEZ?

Re: Throttle Warning(solved) and Ail Sw warning at startup

Post by imagecatcher »

Rob I have soldered the Atmega pins, no smartipants (thats me LOL) etc. I have checked pins with a loupe/mag and look clear.
Ahhh, Throttle is now OK...doh it was set to mode 1 AETR but I wanted(assumed) Mode 2.
So now just the AIL switch issue.

Can you confirm. In open9x. You have NOT also clicked telemetryEZ?

Hi Rob. in Companion9x I now have load on Tx :frsky/nocurves/templates/audio/nofp/haptic
TelemetreEZ is not ticked.
The throttle needs to be hard down to avoid the warning..is there a mechanical adjustment I can do inside you think?
Not sure if it is related: the main board gets warm through the case under right hand palm, down in the corner (left hand side looking at the board. It is the Aileron sw side. I figured it might be the mylar speaker with 40ohm resistor on it. Im getting a pezio this week.

So... The throttle stick needs. To be hard down to avoid the working?

Have you tried recalibration of the radio?

I think he said above he has calibrated several times. When you calibrate this time be gentle on the sticks, the plastic bends a little id you push on it. That is why you have to press the stick to get rid of the warning.

Believe I have fixed the Throttle issue and found its cause. The repetative reopening of the case & the display plug causes me to 'hinge' the halves on the rhs of the TX. often the halves have levered the throttle poti, loosening the fiberglass part of the poti. it was able to rotate the smallest amount but enough. I have rotated it back (1/2 a mill) and hot glued it solid.Image

SOLVED the AIL warning!!!
I traced the switch wire to the main board then looked at the trace with m/meter. flipped over the board, lifted the LCD sponge follow follow test... bingo! it goes to the 2nd resistor at the bottom of the big ic. The one we solder to. Sure enough it was dead/no resistance. Simply replaced with a std 200 resistor and now its all good.
I hope this helps other...I have seen it asked elsewhere.

I am experiencing the same issue with thr and ail on warning at startup. Actualy the throttle is alwais on no matter I frlip the switch. Ail seems to be OFF but can not be turn on and it is flasshing a little constantly. I guess it is the HW issue.
IMAGECATCHER can you post some pictures of your solution? I kind if do not follow your THR switch sollution. And which resistor exactly is AIL connected to?

You've likely flashed the "frsky" version of the firmware you use without doing the telemtry mod, or the opposite.

I did frsky mod with two 220 ohm resistors and removing smd 201 resistors from the board so I do not have to cut the board. I did the test. I connected those smds back and detatched 220 ohm resistors and it all works well with stock fw. When mod is done thereis Switch Error message at stock fw startup an after I flashed er9x there is thr and ail switch issue. Now I know why stock fw would not start. I am not really sure if the er9x fw is frsky version. I have two choices. Reflash or change resistors. Soldering is done well.

You need the frsky version of the firmware. Otherwise your telemetry mod is useless. Only the frsky version includes the telemetry code.

Yes, you have to flash er9x_frSky, not er9x

Hey all, I realize this is an old thread but I too am facing the issue with the Throttle/Aileron switches. I have modified my t9x for the frsky w/ telemetry mod and OpenTX by cutting the board and soldering. I am receiving Rx/Tx info on the screen but the switches don't function. I've read it could be a short, the traces are cut correctly. When using the companion software i only choose frSky. Any help would be appreciated. I tried the lines with a multi-meter and all appears well. Was thinking about purchasing some 220-ohm resisters and try that by removing the old ones.
