Hi,
I believe it is a well known fact that with FrSky Tx and Rx, we get a telemetry lost when Tx and Rx are very close (< 1 meter).
When I hand launch myself my glider, I get 90% of the time a telemetry lost because the Tx and Rx are obviously very close.
This situation worries me in the event the telemetry does not recover fast enough and I could lose the aircraft because of a bad launch.
I don't always have someone with me to launch my airplane glider.
Is there someone who has a solution for this situation (hand launch and telemetry lost)?
Any idea is welcome.
Thanks,
RTG.

Re: Hand launch a glider and telemetry lost
Not sure which Rx you have but there is new firmware for a range of Frsky Rx's which will stop the telemetry loss when the Tx is too close to the Rx amongst a lot of other improvements..

Telemetry is not control, you don't exactly need it.

Re: Hand launch a glider and telemetry lost
Weds,
I have the XR series of receivers.
Kilrah,
So what you are saying is that the control of surfaces and throttle will not be lost even if the Tx and Rx are very close together and I have a telemetry lost? Please confirm.
If this is really true, then great, I am really relieved.
Thank you both.
RTG.

That's usually how it is, and is easy enough to test...

Re: Hand launch a glider and telemetry lost
Thank you again Kilrah,
After doing a quick test, the controls (surfaces and throttle) are indeed functional despite the telemetry lost.
So the issue of security control of hand launching with telemetry lost is not a problem.
Best,
RTG

Then the update will work and stop the annoying warnings, but as Kilrah says they are only telemetry warnings you won't lose control, you can turn off the warnings in the menus.
