er9x development

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

No, I don't think I've seen that before.
It could be something with the TEZ connection. This supports the use of a rotary encoder.
Have you updated the firmware on the TEZ boards and set the option in the firmware to indicate this has been done?

Did you do any mod to the radio recently? Do all keys work?

Yes i updated TEZ and chose the option in the hardware menu. Well it was the first time that happened. Could it be something in the hardware?
No mods besides the solderless and all the keys work.

It happened again. This time I noticed a blinking horizontal line at the top left corner. Wonder what it means?

The blinking line indicates an EEPROM write is pending. It gets shorter over time until the write takes place, then the line disappears.

Do you have any clue on what might be causing it? I remember the other day that the radio feel off my hands to the ground, and it showed erratic behaviour just after, but when I rebooted it stopped. Something inside must be somehow misplaced. I guess.

Mike,

I have one radio running er9x-frsky-sv.hex (with the serial voice module, of course). I changed a couple of switches from 2-pos to 3-pos and was going to set them up ... but couldn't find corresponding options in the Hardware menu. Is support for extra inputs missing in the -sv version due to memory limitations (I'm on r819)?

Anything I could do about it? Ideally, I would like to be able to use EXT1 and EXT2 on the sound module...

Update:
It's ELE and AIL switches that I want to upgrade to 3-pos. I tried to apply the settings via eePe. But then the radio displays garbage instead of the AIL or ELE during startup switches check and in DiagSwtch screen...

The hardware menu is missing for the M64 to save space. It is supposed to work if you make the settings using eepe, I'll need to check what may be wrong. It could be you are using a version of eepe that doesn't support something correctly.

What version of eepe are you using? (revision number AND date please).

I believe I have the latest eePe that is publicly available: revision 421, Aug 5 2015

And I guess er9x is also one of the latest ones, though it's not easy to figure out which one it is exactly. The 'Version' screen shows the following:
V1.1005-Mike
DATE: 23.05.2015
TIME: 10:11:41
SVN: er9x-r819
MOD: FRSKY NT

(Note: this version doesn't support the 'mute' feature on power on, but I think the 'mutable' version was not yet released anyway).

Here's my eeprom.

Please try the version of eepe that is linked at the bottom right on http://www.er9x.com/.
I haven't got a M64 running the -sv version available to check this out at present.

Strange... When I download eePe at the direct link, I get r415 dated July 10th, 2015.
As soon as I start it, it offers me to download an update to r418.
Still, it doesn't change behavior of the radio...

Mike,

The latest eePe didn't solve my problem. Perhaps, I'm doing something wrong...

When I switch the radio ON, I get the following message - this is with the ELE switch not in "default" position:

Image

I could only guess what "'-6" means...

And this is what screen shows if both ELE and AIL are not in default state:

I've certainly built versions, but no releases, since the version you have.

Please do backup your EEPROM before flashing "just in case".

Aha! This seem to be about it!!! Switches are being reported correctly now!

Now the issue is that I get SWITCH ALERT with the EL↑ message on power up. And it doesn't go away until I move the switch to EL↓ position. This is reversed compared to usual operation - is it by purpose? I don't think this is user-configurable anywhere...

P.S. For AIL switch, the power-on check is correct: no alert when AI↑ and expected 'switch alert' when AI- or AI↓

P.P.S. This is of a less importance, but just to let you know: there's still no 'mute' option in this version. Holding 'Menu' and 'Exit' while switching the radio on makes er9x logo stay on the screen as long as the keys are pressed. After that, the radio boots normally, playing back all the startup sounds and warnings (if any).

Why does eePe get confused between THR and ELE when it prints a model configuration?

I think that happens when you have an older model version.
Go to the Model Setup/General menu, scroll down to "Default Sw." Put all switches in the OFF position, and hit menu.. Problem solved ;)
You must do that to all old models, or the ones that do that problem ;)

Thanks Joao,

Forgive me, but I am a little confused. I was talking about eePe when it prints. I have attached a picture of the mixes to illustrate what I mean.
Mixes from eePe print preview
Mixes from eePe print preview
mixes.JPG (28.01 KiB) Viewed 10809 times
My channel order is AETR, and in the print preview Thr and Ele are reversed.

I went to Model Setup in eePe, the first tab for model configuration and I do not see a Default switch item there.
What I do see as the last item at the bottom of the page, is Switch Warning with all switches enumerated.
I have attached a picture of that part of the screen. It shows that the model version is 4, and I cannot get ID0 unchecked.
eePe Model Setup first tab
eePe Model Setup first tab
I then went to my TX Model Setup / General, and indeed there is a Default Sw item, and it says exactly what the picture in the manual shows on page 66. TRE012AG. Zero is highlighted as in the manual.

I cannot edit this field, not with right/left or by pressing Menu
I am at a loss as to where that shows up in eePe, I can't find it.

Can you explain in more detail what is going on here, and what I am doing wrong?

I have noticed that changing the mode in eePe changes the reversals in print preview.
if I make it mode 3 (AIL ELE THR RUD), then Ail and Rud are reversed in the print preview.
(I do not fly in mode 3)

I hope that I explained it correctly,
Thanks Gerhard

I'll look into the print problem.
You don't "edit" the TRE012AG field, you set the switches to the default value you want, then press MENU.

Mike.

Edit: I have the fix for the print problem.

That makes sense Mike,

I have now duplicated that functionality.
it also explains why ID0 is always on.

Dear Developers,
First of all, thank you for Great firmware!
I have a question, do you plalning to include S.Bus Futaba proptocol in ER9X?
A lot of people fling with OpenLrs 433 transmitters (in Turnigy 9x, 9xr), but Turnigy 9x can send only PWM or PPM. So to using S.Bus, they have to making retranslator with Futaba ressivers. It's expensive and uncomfortable.
In Russia one man make a Great open firmware (he using OpenlrsNG code and some other codes) which support S.Bus! (https://github.com/baychi/OpenExpertTX , https://github.com/baychi/OpenTinyRX). It's working, and people fling for a long distance, but only whith retranslator, becouse no reason to use low speed PPM (PWM)!

So if you can check possibility to include S.Bus to the ER9X, it will be Great advantage.
If you need some translation from Baychi firmware I can do it.
Thanks in advance and Best regards!

Er9x supports the Frsky RF system. The XJT module and X receivers support SBUS. So yes, you can have SBUS with er9x :)
