FRSKY varios problem

Post by SteveH »

A friend and I are having problems with FRSKY variometers locking up whilst in use.
We have updated the firmware on the varios and on our X8R receivers and still the varios lock and give the same altitude reading after about 30 second or so in the air.
The strange thing is that I bench ran an updated vario and receiver for around 5 hours without a problem.
We both have an early Taranis - I think some of the first batch in the UK and I hear that the firmware may need updating. Can anyone confirm this and give us some clues how to do it and which firmware to use.
Thanks for any advice.

I have a vague memory of a firmware update that fixed a crc error on the rf module.

It was a steange update that gad to be done via the ppm portib the module bay.

Actually.. have you upraded the stock firmware on the radio - ever?

If not. Update via companion. It will probably fix it!

Hi Rob
Thanks for your reply.
I am currently running open tx-r2940 which I think was the last update before changing to Opentx 2.
Is this the firmware update you mean? If so do you recommend updating the internal RF module. Do you think this will fix the problem?

Ok. Then most likely the rf module update.

Now the question is where the hell is the update!

I will see if I can track it down.

Thanks Davx - This update relates to the external XJT module. Is this the same update for the internal RF module on the Taranis?
Thanks
