New Features Wish List

erskyTx runs on many radios and upgrade boards
ersky9x was a port of er9x for use on the sky9x board.

Re: Outputs?

Post by Hippo »

As long as we're going crazy with feature requests, I've got one. How about using some outputs to turn different modules on and off by model memory.

ie. Model 1 - FrSky module, PPM
Model 2 - Spektrum Module, DSM2

Power to the module would be automatic upon model selection. I wouldn't mind making a power board with FETs etc, to handle the switching, if the software can do the rest.

As for cases, Ive wondered for years, if everybody leaves their antenna bent to one side, why didn't the case designers just put the antenna in the handle already? Now I may have to do just that. Thanks for the inspiration.

How about having sub directories for model organization. Aero--->Elec/glow/gas, Glider--->Elec/DLG, Heli--->Elec/glow/gas, Surface---H2O/pave...etc. Having the ability to name and create your own directory structure.

Since we have sound how about being able to assign sounds to the alarms in a mix and for that mater whatever alarms there are..."YO, YOU LEFT YOUR RADIO ON STUPID".

This is the essence of how open9x does it. Hence my pointing out in the other thread that we need to re-think the way for ersky9x.

We've been waiting for that for the er9x as well, or is it going only on the new board??

what do you think about add a magnetometer to the board?

useful for know where the plane is and align the directional antenna in case you don't have a tracking antenna system,
maybe useful too for find it in case of lost... but for this i find better connect the radio to an android device with GPS

for what else could be useful ¿?

dont know how usefull a magnetometer would be in a transmitter (rf may interfere with it) wouldn't a 1 or 2 axis gyro work better for that purpose?

The magnemometer sounds like it would be used as a compass to get the right direction to a downed plane. I guess if you were to do this you would also need a gps in the plane and the tx so the tx could figure out the positions of both and compute the direction from that.

well what i would be worried about is that a magnetometer also picks up EM fields such as a rf circuit

I would be worried that it would add cost, but no real value.

I can't even imagine the circumstances under which it would ever be of any use to me.

Perhaps OSRC will have one?

offtopic but some people think OSRC a scam, all still just in 3D, nothing real yet, not even source to check

Yep exact, a $5 sensor on a $85 board had better add major functionality... which I really don't think it would. At least not without an accompanying GPS.

You can use some of these

hey i just was thinking that since the frsky hub is working and all that is it possible to set an alarm off the cell voltage off the flvs1 oled hub sensor? that would actually give warning if cells begin to unbalance

It's supposed to be in there! On the second telemetry menu (with the RSSI alarms) there is an option:
Volt Thres=0.00.
This is suppused to be the threshold that will trigger an alarm if any of the cells, measured by the oled senso,r drop below it. 0.00 turns it off. The individual cell voltages are displayed on the bottom of the 'GPS' telemetry screen.
I don't have one of these sensors, so I can't test the alarm properly.

OK, it may have gone missing, it's there on the version I'm running, which will be r56 when I commit it.

Just checking, I'm working on er9x as well, can't remember whats changing where!
RPM - number of blades.
Filght pack mAh alarm, if you have a current sensor on the aircraft.
PPM pulse polarity working.
Bug in limits setting fixed.
The voltage threshold is added, it was in er9x, but got added after I took the sources for ersky9x.

most of these have just been added to er9x as well.

We have 256K flash for program, 48K RAM for data, 4Mbit (512Kbyte) of external EEPROM (flash), and we have provision for a (micro) SD card (several Gb likely), still implementing the software for that. Will that be sufficient for you?

Maybe to be able to assign telemetry screens to toggle switches to quickly view desired screens. Actually, assign any two screens or 3 if assigned to 3 pos switch. Another idea is to lock the -and+ selection buttons if toggles are used. I find that when hand launching with my right hand and gripping the tx with my left my left palm will hit the left selection buttons and change my screens forcing me to look down and reselct screens after launching. I don't use a tx strap.

How about a nice inexpensive color touch screen?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/200566071216?ss ... 1423.l2649

3.5" 320x480

Darn - even the 4.3" aren't that pricey ;)

JEANALTAYR, at what point does it cease to be a radio controlled airplane and become an autonomous robot?

I like that. When my plane slows down to 30 mph, the flaps deploy. Thats pretty cool really.

Lots of cool things could happen based on telemetry;
-Turn on landing lights when battery gets low
-Lower throttle by %x when getting close to the RSSI limit giving you time to turn around OR some other failsafe
-position based events based on gps... i.e. when you are more than 100 feet away, turn off the sound system (if you had one) to save battery and not wake up the neibors.

All you would really need to do is have the various telemetry values as inputs for custom switches, then use the switch in a mix...
Sky9X: One radio to rule them all, and in the darkness BIND them.
