PIPO32 - Monster ISU :)

Electronic projects that are either related to the firmwares for the 9x, or simply great for radio control applications.

How awful! ;)

I don't mind at all. Just wanted to know if I could order now or rather wait until those are there. Would be stupid to ship separately :)

Not giving away beer. Code, yes. Bows, yes. Fluffy bunnies - only if UPS agrees to ship them and I get a written affidavit that they will not be harmed.

But not beer. No. :P

Messing around with SW I got an idea for a simple(er) way to plug in servos (actually Groot suggested it at first).
I don't like it too much because it puts a lot of stress on the board but in a pinch it will work.

And I stole the idea from somewhere else :D It works for me and if you are careful then you won't break the board.

On that, the connection board, can it be used also a power distribution board ? I'm sure there is space for a large connection to ground and B+ and maybe even a xt60 (wishful-thinking I know)

Well, the traces are massive. They should handle 5A easy, probably much more. Enough for most servos/esc.

I'm wary of making it a power distribution board. How many connections? What if someone doesn't want a XT60? (I don't use them) How do you mount them to the board without the latter falling apart after a couple of cycles? What about transmission of vibrations via the big wires? Just too many questions and not enough answers.

Well the first 4 are assembled. Quite a battle this one. The VQFN package is not easy to manipulate.
Hopefully I get enough orders to send it out to a P&P shop. Better on my eyes!

I haven't been able to test it yet. I got some solder bridges and I'm out of copper braid. Also, I want to check it out under a microscope before I feed in juice.
Waiting for Monday then.

Wow, 100 dollar blue led. Is it made of diamond! I remember I got my blue led 6.00 for a hundred of them. Darn expensive led. Oh well, it is SMD led I guess, and all that cirucuit to make it shine.

It's a very accurate 32bit led! Well worth it IMO.

Powering it up like that was not smart. I still had a short and the ldo got really hot. Good thing I'm not home so I can't mess with it!

[BrainFart]
So now lets throw a stone into the pond and see if we can make some ripples ....from what I know Frsky use stm32 .... Erazz works on Pxx code that goes in this STM32 ....we have a STM32 based board ....can a Rx be build into the Expansion board ? I hate having to add always the weight of a Rx on micro size ...and I am sure the RF stream can be fed to the stm from a single RF chip. add a U-FL connector for antenna and some code and we have a build in Rx that talk to any FrSky module ...and I am sure even Telemetry data can be added ...even programing over the link. Real time display of alt and once the 6050 is replaced by the 9050 we can even have direction ....add GPS (for bigger things)

Apparently farts travel far and wide....
I thought of making a board that has built-in esc's and a rx....

I may know how to do the rx portion but the esc is black magic to me....

Wanna collaborate?

There are. And the concept is pretty simple. Designing a good one for MC use is kinda hard though....

The problem with adding ESC is size ...I use every thing from 3amp to 40amp depending on what I build ...also you have then tri, quad, hex, octo y6 y8 ....it becomes a problem, but a nice quad 20a esc add on board could work. For me I am more interested in Rx build in the "connections" board, or even in the main board. the problem is some want FrSky, others want Spectrum or something silly. that will mean 2~3 different boards ....depending on what they want. All the ESC's I use are flashed with simonk's firmware, and I have even done it for some others who asked and I said send it over, I'll do it. All those ESC's are still based on Atmega thou, and there is only some beta code for stm based ESC's ...most quad ESC boards I have seen does not really take off ...but then again they are all based on 4xatmega ...maybe if a single MCU is used in a design where adding more N-Fet's can increase the output, starting with basic 6A, 10A, 20A and 30A, so the basic board will be 6A, but that to me will be a complete sideline project to this one.

Having a Build-in FrSky compatible Rx will be VERY Nice and could be a good selling point. (Now I am sure some one will soon cry for DSM2/DSMX .... :P )

To me an onboard ESC would only make sense if it was a "tiny" one (3A or so) for micro quads, even maybe for brushed motors (again weight savings, and much simpler to implement). Makes little sense saving a couple of grams by integrating the ESCs on a board for a machine with 4x20A that can lift 1.5kg of payload anyway... and for micro things having more than 4 motors is a waste of weight / complications.

Integrated RF - again, only for micro things. Unless every gram counts you can use either a Spektrum satellite or FrSky D4FR, small and light already.
