ERSKY9X Coding

erskyTx runs on many radios and upgrade boards
ersky9x was a port of er9x for use on the sky9x board.

Mike, I think we already spoke about this but if I well remember it was for the 9x.

Would it be possible the radio to remember which main screen, telemetry screen, or custom telemetry screen it was when power on, but on a per model basis?
The reason for this is that not all the models use the same screens, and I find it quite annoying to change screens all the time I change models, but that is me obviously :) I know it is a small thing, but it is annoying :D :p
I know that on the 9x there is the problem of writing to the eeprom very often as it would shorten it's life, but is there a problem on the skyboard based radios?

By the way, voice seems to be working good now.. been out flying a couple times and no chopping or hanging on the voice.. very nice.. ;)

Thanks

Yes, The USB displayed when in Samba mode, could say how to get into Bootloader / mass storage device mode.
The computer beeps , and the radio lcd says USB .... why should the user not think he has done things correctly?

Its not a big thing ...but it has caught a few people ...so a couple of lines of text , telling them they are most likely in the wrong USB mode.
would stop some from pulling their hair out.

I've entered a few changes to see if it will remember the main screen, will test them later.

How about, instead of USB, I display something like:

SAM-BA MODE

[tab=6] For normal USB mode
Power on holding both
[tab=12]Horizontal trims
[tab=30]inwards

That Sam-ba mode looks great Mike. I think now people only won't get it if they can't read ;)
But I would add something there..

"For normal USB mode
Power on holding both
Horizontal trims inwards
Then connect USB cable"

Just checking the code, this display is now in the bootloader, so it will need a bootloader update to change the message. Also, to keep the bootloader small, I only included the characters U, S, and B in double size, So maybe the SAM-BA MODE will just have to be normal size.

We only have 21 characters across the display, "Then connect USB cable" is 22!

Just thinking! Do we need the operation at all? It's left over from before the bootloader existed really.

So, if power on and both horizontal trims are inwards OR USB power is present, then run bootloader.
To use SAM-BA mode, use the ERASE button first.

Could you make the bootloader reconigize an USB connection at power on? then we could even discard the trims thing all together..
And, if sam-ba mode needed, use the reset button first??

Not if you want to change firmware without computer.

For example when testing a new firmware while in the fields ...
and you want change back to last version ...

Just posted updated test files. The bootloader (for SKY based boards) runs if USB is already plugged.
The 9XR-PRO now has PXX and SPort enabled.
They might remember the 'main' screen on a per model basis.

So I just flash the bootloader in maintenance mode, and then the firmware, right?

Either order is OK. I usually flash the firmware first, simply because I do that directly from eepskye, for the bootloader, the .bin file has to be copied to the SD card first, of course.

Mike, I was just reading the other forum and just thought of something. There are some models that normally :p don't fly like land vehicles, boats, etc.. most might use the zero throttle with stick at centre. Is there a option on the timer trigger for this situation? Timer should also count positive when the model drives backwards :D
If there isn't an option for this, wouldn't it be a good idea? ;)

Mike, problem..
Flashed the fw and the bootloader.. it does start in bootloader mode if I turn the radio on with the USB conneted to the PC.
Great..

Now, eject the drives, disconnect the cable, all the firmware files are displayed. That is correct..
Now, press exit like we did before to exit the bootloader and start the firmware..
Only the version of the bootloader shows on top of the screen and it's not possible to turn the radio off unless you disconnect the battery.. It gets stuck on that screen.

If I do the procedure using the trims, all works as before..

Also, please look at the timer 1 just above the RTC. Note half of the "M" missing.

Very odd, I'll investigate. If you plug the USB back in, then unplug it, you get the files display back, then you can power off without disconnecting the battery.

THs can be done using custom switch anyway, so just use a custom switch like |v|>ofs THR 2, to trigger just away from throttle in the centre.
TH% can be replaced by C24%, and configure CH24 to give the required operation.

Actually, half the 'm' is visible! It used to only show "Ti".

I just did as you say and I can turn the radio off then..
it just doesn't reboot into the fw when pressing exit and gets stuck

Hmm, quite a few steps in there. maybe another thing that could be simplified?? :) ;) are there any bits left on the timer trigger options or is the byte full??

It skipped initialising the MENU key and this was being read as always ON. This stopped the reboot as it waits for ALL keys to be released, including the EXIT key being used to cause the reboot.

Hopefully I'll post a fixed version tomorrow.

Regarding the timer, since it can be done currently, and I have enough other things to do at present, I'll leave it as is.
