Turnigy 9X Backlight

Post by MrLarry »

I just installed Open9X to my simple Turnigy 9X last night using Companion9X, replacing the stock firmware. The backlight was working fine in the original software, but I can't get it to turn on now with the new firmware. I've tried all of the choices available in the General Settings, tried different time settings, but no success. At one point about an hour ago, the backlight came on by itself, but went out again when I pressed a key. I have the SmartieParts board installed, but don't recall having to make any settings on it when I installed it and don't know how to make any changes on it now. What's wrong here?

First of all, welcome to the forum..
How was the backlight working with the original firmware if it doesn't support backlight? Only if you had it always on.

which version of the smartieparts do you have installed in the radio? depending on the version you have you might have to tick the "sp22" box when you download opentx with companion.
I think on the latest versions of the SmartieParts board the backlight must be inverted on the firmware to work correctly and that is what this option does.

Yes, it was always on and that was one of the reasons I decided to change the FW. The SmartieParts board is V2.4. and I found the reference in the manual for using SP22. Thanks! That allowed the backlight to turn on. I don't know about inverting. All I had to do was include SP22 in the compile. So much stuff to read, I glossed over that part. I'm glad to have this forum as a reference source though. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions.
