openTx-r2413, sky9x board, optrex lcd, blank screen

I have a sky9x (v3) board, optrex lcd, and rotary encoder all running with the latest ersky9x. I wanted to try opentx on it, so I loaded openTx-r2413 (opentx-sky9x-heli-templates-autoswitch-battgraph-ttsen-en-r2413.bin and without battgraph to test) from companiontx. It starts up with the normal invalid EEPROM, formats the EEPROM, then leaves me with a blank screen. After about 10 seconds, you'll hear the speaker click like when it does when it turns on (it's rebooting). If I generate a valid EEPROM with companionTX, it skips the formatting EEPROM, and goes straight to the blank screen. I installed the latest sky9x co-processor firmware just to be safe.

The sky9x board has the SD card slot, but I don't have an SD card in it. Is that maybe the problem? Any other ideas?

Which version of the sky9x board?

As I recall, some versions needed a jumper set on it if you ran without an sdcard.

Had some issues when I tryed to upgrade to the latest version of open TX (r2413), on a sky9x v3. Still haven't found an answer.

Would you try inserting an SD into the slot to see if the problem disappears?

yeah that's very similar. It's a V3 board. I'll stick an SD card in there and try again.

Don't know if the answer was for me or digiexchris. Any way, I had (and have) an SD card in the slot. It's been there since the beginning. It's where the sounds files are stored. I think I even tried without the card. Same problem.

If I flash the latest version of open tx using companion i get a blank screen and the tx will not boot anymore, nor go into usb mode. I have to use the erase jumper on the sky board and clear everything for the tx be recognized as a usb device.
I can then flash the tx with samba (no matter the version, even the latest) but I cant upload the eeppe that i saved with the settings and models, because it erases the co-processor. And it doesnt save anything, it just asks to format.

And once formatted, does it start correctly?
Also I assume you have the latest companion9x?

Yes, all this is using latest version of companion.
Dont know if i'm making my self clear, sorry.
It's like this.
-if i flash the tx with the latest version using companion i get a blank screen, and it will not boot or get into usb mode
-have to use erase jumper and flash the tx using samba
-with samba i can flash the latest version and the radio starts as it shoul (asks for eepprom format)
-try to upload eeppe file with models and settings but it just asks for an eepprom format (again) and after that the co-processor is missing, but the tx works

I'm getting to the conclusion that i cant use companion. Cant flash the tx or it blocks, and cant upload a model or some settings because it asks for an eepprom format and erases the co-processor. If i just create a new file from fresh and try to upload it, have the same problem. Forgot to say that in all this process there are no errors in companion. The transfer is succesfull

Would you check that the flashing process didn't fail? If you click on the details tickbox of the burn dialog, you will see a -E- in the last line. If yes you don't have the good zip in the sam-ba directory.

On v3 board if you use it without SD card you need to remove a jumper

Would you please copy and paste here the details of C9X flashing window ?
I'm pretty sure there is something wrong as the whole read/write process here works without any problem on revB and V3 board

I dont know what to say but today I was going to test everything again to post here the results you asked for, and all went fine. Did everything as the last time, but today I was able to flash the latest version of open TX and upload the eeppe file without a problem.

One thing though, with the latest version of open tx some of the sounds dont work anymore. I read in previous versions that the sound folder has to be renamed from 9XSOUNDS to SOUNDS. Did that but still no changes. Could you guys walk me trough.

hmm, i am still puzzled with system sounds and alerts on my 9x with r2413.
i can play sounds that i configure in custom functions, all fine there.
however i still cannot manage to get proper file played for rssi low, battery alarm etc.
I placed eg. rssi_org.wav, rssi_red.wav and some others under SOUNDS/en/SYSTEM but my radio still just signals RSSI errors with beeps rather than the wav-file it should use instead.

What am I doing wrong here?
