Transmitter Tray by 3GenRC
Just ordered one of these...
They can be purchased from:
http://myworld.ebay.com/3genrc
No idea if it will fit - but my feeling is it will work on the Taranis. And maybe the 9X.
I will let you know when it arrives

The Taranis rear case moulding looks identical to the 9X. Just has some extra cutouts for the sliders and earphone socket.

Re: Transmitter Tray by 3GenRC
I figure it should be ok. The tray is advertised as JR compatable, so should be pretty close!

Re: Transmitter Tray by 3GenRC
Doubt that it will be of use on the 9X with a Frsky DJT module that has the 'sticky outy' bit for the aerial connection.

If you check the ebay pics, you will see it rests on the handle.
We will see

Hmm, I think I will start carrying my livingroom's armchair to the field.. Might be a bit more confortable. Just rest the tx on my legs.. Might as well take the little stool for my feet.

I sometimes take a collapsible chair with foot rest.
Let's me lie back in the "sun" and enjoy some flying.

It appears in England at and after dawn only on the rare days that an east landing is necessary following an all night flight from North America. Nothing like a face full of sun to wake you up when trying to see the runway on short final!

Cheers Rob. Let's hope that the need for that goes away if the Horus comes out in tray style, complete with its own side cheeks..
Re: Transmitter Tray by 3GenRC
I hope not.. well, at least it should be an option.

Tray radios remind me of the people selling ice cream and cakes on the beach. speaking about it I really miss it. The beach of course.

Re: Transmitter Tray by 3GenRC
Mad a small mod to the tray today.
Drilled a hole in the back so I could get to the trainer port. (teaching my dad to fly)
First time flying with it today. Very nice feel.
I have always flown pinch style. My hands are big enough to do this, and hold the tx. (thumb and index finger holding the stick) so using the tray has been easy. Especially with the hand rests. They help you keep he then tx stable.
Happy all round

Re: Transmitter Tray by 3GenRC
It's great to know that the Taranis will fit into the same footprint as the 9x. I designed this tray for the 9x. I wanted the rests higher and a more secure method to hold the TX in the tray. I also have a lock that holds the handle in place with two 3mm cap screws, but it's really overkill. The key to holding it is the polycarbonate spring on the bottom. I built this in about 3 hours for $20. I have the plans as an illustrator file.

Re: Transmitter Tray by 3GenRC
Absolutely. My pleasure.
There are three pieces in the plans that are for the lock. only two are needed -- one is an extra in case of a mistake when embedding the T-nuts (or blind nuts). The holes on the sides for the T-nuts need to be drilled after the first cap screw is in place to get placement perfect. Pre-drilling them before the arm is bent just won't be exact enough because everybody will get a slightly different bend.

Re: Transmitter Tray by 3GenRC
Should br simple enough to to.
They tray is a good 6mm acrylic, so just drill a hole for the mount!
