Model Artwork for Taranis

Post by Scott Page »

UPDATED October 3, 2013
I'm using this first post to post the most recent compilation of icons for the Taranis.

With the October update I've grouped the icons into four different folders. Glider (form), Planks, Rotary, and Other. There are also 5 new contributors to the collection. Thanks to one and all for their contributions.
Rather than display the nearly 300 or so icons, I have included them in .pdf catalogs broken down into the groups that I used to organize the.

I need to be sure to caution users of these icons to check the names and be sure they are 10 characters or less long followed by .bmp. The 10 characters should have no spaces - but underlines or hyphens can be used for spaces.

In addition to myself, artwork credits to:
  • Rosario Teodonno of the Italian forum "Baronerosso"
  • Andre Bernet
  • Romolo Manfredini
  • Michele "Mschiepp"
  • "heliphil"
  • "Fireball"
  • "dvogonen"
  • "Elo"
  • "mrexcitement"
  • "dermo"
  • "NI0X"
  • "Tcat"
(If I forget to credit somebody please let me know.)

I think this thread (and the others you mention) are good here in the Taranis section, as stickys. I just stickied this one.

BTW about model images, names must be 10 chars max. (extension not included)

I had time to make 14 more icons tonight. One or two are redone because I was not satisfied with earlier efforts.

Scott,

Here's a Funcub but I don't think I got the conversion to bitmap correct, so please take a look at it. Have attached the original as a jpg too so you can see what it looked like as a greyscale image.

@Scott,

Didn't realise you had done it due to the habit of "internet skimming" as I call it :)

Anyway here is a few more, didn't have much time today so have not created a nice photo album

Zip includes

Radian
Radian Pro
DG-1000
MX2

Still not sure if they will have enough contrast but will have to wait out until someone can check them as I am not in the first "batch" of buyers for the radio but will be getting one :)

Some source material is from our photos, but mostly from promotional materials. All require editing. The trick is that the background needs to be removed and light shades of the aircraft darkened so no part of the model is 255,255,255 or pure white. Some need more contrast, some need shade differentiation between different colors. I've got a huge collection of source images to work on, but I'm Contest Director for a fun fly this weekend - and it's the last week of the school year so I'm swamped with that too. I'm probably done making videos or icons for a few days unless I get aggravated and need a distraction.

This collection is getting really huge, and very, very good.

Thanks for the effort Scott and others.

I assume PZ t-28 and Corsair aren't far behind.

. I had been hoping for the FunCub and Radian and you came through!

Scott has pointed out the requirements for images in his last post and it may be that my efforts will prove unsuitable for the Taranis. The Funcub and Radians may need reworked.
