Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
True... but why not just make 2 connections to the module! Just 2 wires rather than 1
Slope Soaring, FPV, and pretty much anything 'high tech'
...........if you think it should be in the wiki.. ask me for wiki access, then go add it!

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
The RX line is more complicated because you're working with those tiny traces and you have to cut the trace and add that resistor in there. The TX line is much easier. I think the way JEANALTAYR did it (above) might be a lot easier but I haven't tried that method. Plus I never could figure out how to get my board out of the case. Is it glued in or something? Mine is really tight if it's just pressed in there.
Either way is fine of course and not that hard. Personally I find the er9x alarms are better. Especially when you have the speaker and haptic mods done. The FrSky beeper can't be configured and it's annoying.
Having both methods available is obviously the best, I just haven't found a need to hook up that RX side yet.

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
hello
concerning the dismantling of the pcb is not stuck ,in force simply entered a temperature slightly warm can help
previous post on the mod was made on a module "DFJR COMBO" with open9x firm belonging to a friend i have no complains
currently
I think I have a fault on my transmitter release er9x R772
with a convertor rs 232
on A1 no alarm with RX voltage less than the threshold, while this one highlighted on the screen
is it true on A1 no alarm with voltage less than the threshold , the ringtone radio speaker is not automaticly generated ?
if y programmm the voice i can hear the voltage annoucement
nor module bip ; defect on my rx line ? how to check

Thanks, I think I saw that before but still couldn't get it out but maybe I'm confused I'll try it next time I open the case up.kaos wrote:I think you may find the answer here : viewtopic.php?f=44&t=1888&hilit=what+is ... this+black
Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
as Kilrah said in the trhead, squeeze the side of the module box and wiggle a little. I know, it is scary to wiggle that little board on top while the bottom is so tight. don't use brute force, just wiggle and squeeze the module box here and there and it will come out.

hello
i think Kaos give a solution to be applied with box temperature slightly warm .
trouble shooting performed y found a bad soldering on rx line and recover frsky alarm
my request is for alarm configuration
is it possible to generate a voltage alarm with speaker?
my setup
er9x-r771 frskynt version
sound mode pispkvoice
alrm warn on
int. frsky alarm on
an alarm is generated by int frsky : ok right
int. frsky alarm off no alarm speaker is it true.?
thanks for reply

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
you should be able to do that in voice switch. I use A1 jumper for rx voltage and a simple voltage sensor in A2 for fly pack. I turn off my Flysky module alarm. I am using ersky9x but should be the same for er9x.
Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
you are using a quite old version of er9x.. I recommend you upgrade to the latest.. You are using version r771 of er9x and on version 772 there were major changes on the audio. The voice file system changed completely..

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
hello
In fact I have not changed firmware for a while.
1° I only have one transmitter
big work rechecking all the pages, trying to understand the purpose without asking stupid questions and update the manual
and 2° especially aircraft settings not to be affected : Flight SAFETY first concern
I thought that after the 771 there was a big change for the treatment of mixes and I stopped.......
my english is not always accurate ....
.having a look to open9 as a result of the purchase of a variometer Halcion
that does not contain in the dlg finally;;;
If you confirm that the last is better and will not mess up my settings models. I can give it a try and write a few pages manual for the person who just found us a bit lazy but has not furnished much since .
. I understand it is easier helping with the last firm that you use regularly
best regards jmi

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
Good afternoon.
sorry for my bad english. I'm just starting to mod.
I have a question, in the radio, came to stage
it must solder 2 resistors 220r on the atmega?
and unsolder 2 cms?
or just solder the connector as show?
thanks

Yes. This is the "basics" of the telemetry mod that is explained in the document I linked to in the first post, so I didn't detail that part.maccoa wrote:it must solder 2 resistors 220r on the atmega?

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
I was going to do this mod too, myself, until I removed the shrinkwrap from my DHT and saw the tiny tracks I need to solder to... I'll seek help from my electronic friend...
I do have a question : do I only need to cut 1 track here :
http://www.rc-cam.com/forum/index.php?/ ... s/?p=26465
oh, another question: can I leave everything connected when I flash my radio??

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
Yes for both.
Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
Wimh: I assume you are talking about your stock board Tx. Your Sky9x V3 board does not need any mod , just connect the txd/rxd to the board's rxd/txd.
You have a wonderful board there, use it.

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
Yes, for my 9XR. Your board will go either in my Sanwa or my Multiplex Evo. But I want to take my time doing that. The 9XR should be ready soon , for the beginning of the F5J season....

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
can i use this mod without adding any resistor?
Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
It looks like you are using the ardupilot version of the firmware, not the frsky one. You need the frsky version.
The resistors are required.

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
No, i have loaded the er9x frsky firmware on my radio.
The ardupilot is just only the model name.
Now the telemetry is working after resolder the 2 wire on the tx module. Thank you very much for all your help!

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
I finally, with the help of my electronic friend, managed to mod my 9XR for FRSKY + Telemetry.
TX works, but telemetry does not, I just get a screen wit "NO DATA" I suppose it's the wires from my DHT module not soldered correctly?(All switches work normally ...)
I only used 2 wires, no + or -, is that ok?

The - is already common to your ppm line, no issues.
How have you wired things exactly?

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
ahh, just remembered my friend told me the wires may be reversed, so I flipped the connector over , I have a screen now, but with all zeroes... Do I need to set anything? At the bottom I have TX and RX values that change when I put my hand around RX antennas...I thought the A1 value should reflect my receiver battery tension?

Then you're all good. Have a look at the telemetry setup screen for the other settings.

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
yes, when I adjust the range for A1 I can get values... Is there a standard range? sometimes I still get "No data" , 2 different screens ??? when I switch RX off and on it comes back. My A1 is not stable either ( 6 channel D6FR Rx), switches between 4.68 and 4.75 V with range set to 18.1v???Receiver battery is flat now....maybe that's why...

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
What battery voltage do you have? ... Failing that. What type of battery are you using and how many cells does it have?
Yes it would be a good idea to have a charged battery before doing further checks/adjustments.

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
Thanks, I do now think all is ok... now fix everything and build it in properly, only just fits (DHT, old Graupner/JR 35 Mhz modulecase)

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
Yes.. Cramming all the wires in then putting the screws in takes up a lot of time. Glad that it is all okay now.
Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
If you're reading A1 on D6FR receiver, you're reading battery voltage through an internal divider..Wimh wrote:yMy A1 is not stable either ( 6 channel D6FR Rx), switches between 4.68 and 4.75 V with range set to 18.1v???Receiver battery is flat now....maybe that's why...
I think the divider is a 4:1 so the range should be set to 13.2V, not 18.1V.

Re: FrSky telemetry mod without RS232 level converter
Please HELP
I did the mod at my 9x with DJT module and I am experiencing SWITCH ERROR message.
When I first turned on the TX it started normaly but the DJT module was off, no led flashing.
When I took the module out I received SWITCH ERROR MESSAGE
I found out that the green wire at he 12pin plug which connects the front and back side of the radio was disassembled so I placed it back.
Since then the DJT module flashes as it suppose to, but rhe radio would not turn on. There is SWITCH ERROR message flashing at the screen and beeping error sound. I have to disassemble the green wire to get it started, but then again there is no led flashing at the module.
Can somebody point me the right direction? I am kind of stuck.
