Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

Mike! I thought that the board would be more difficult. I'm sure that can be done without metallizer holes. Preferable to use a single layer board with jumper. Is it possible? It is waiting for test results, too!

Here is the final (?) Version of "DIL1206" board.
Accordingly, Mike's last Schematic.
220μF electrolytic capacitor is provided

Just completed a first attempt at laying out a double sided full SMD version of the "HaGeHa" board. Still have to make sure my version of the board fits!

There are quite a few Ground connections on the ground plane side, and I think the ground plane itself will help performance.

Most of the comp[onents are now fitted, I hope to find enough time tomorrow (Monday) to finish it and start testing.

Hans, how do you prefer, or I replace in repository previous, first version of DIL board, or I make new folder for last version? (I think replacement would be better)

Oliver, is it possible for you to take a close up picture of your board? I would love to have for reference when building out a copy.

Updated: Dec 11/2012
I am ready to build...
photo.JPG
I have your schematic but a picture would be helpful as well. If it is not too muh trouble. ;-)
As well as one for the radio that shows placement. For the existing board that with the switch, I assume you drilled a little bigger whole where the screw mount is on your board so that it can pass through and allow the other board to sit on top? Did you move the transistor?
Diag.jpg
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks.

Can I answer instead of Oliver.
The item to which the arrow is 5 volt regulator. With the existing board to unsolder: 5 volt regulator, controls transistor and the buzzer. That is, all the parts except for the power switch and wires.

Hello, Pino. This is not transistor. This is LM7805. Yes, remove it. And also remove beeper and real transistor near it (top right corner of board on you photo).

Yes, I drill hole exactly as stand's diameter for screw. So my board tightly sits on this stand even without screwing :). If it will insufficiently tightly, you can use doublesided tape between boards.

In repository there are Eagle's schematics, in my and Mbanzi folders, there only need to divide resistor on two and add capacitor between it.

man-bis/Oliver,

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew I had to remove everything upstream from there except the voltage regulator(transistor, haha)... but that makes more sense now.
However, I was interested in doing the Haptic Mod as well. Can I tie that into the New Sound Board on the Buzzer Lead? Do I need to put any other components on there to accomodate anything? In the Haptic Mod, they have you adding a few things on this board which would most likely get in the way and not work anymore as I am removing the voltage regulator.
ie.
1. 4.7uF capacitor
2. 10uF 16V capacitor
3. 1K ohm resistor
4. 390 ohm resistor
5. 1N4001 diode

Haptic Mod

In theory, If I just put the Voltage Regulator on the other side and can carry out the Haptic Mod, then feed the Vibrator Motor off the Buzzer Lead... it could all work together? OR This could be rectified if the Sound Board supports the use of the Vibrator Motor in place of the Buzzer.

Thanks again, You guys make me want to go back to school and learn electrical engineering. My Bio-Med degree just isn't cutting it in here. ;-)

I didn't do the haptic mod but I think it uses another pin on the CPU and not the buzzer?? :o

Hi Joao
That is correct, the pin 43 on the CPU. But it looks like the vibrator is connected to the buzzer leads. And the speaker connected up stream via some capacitors and resistors.

It's not that important to me as the sound board. But I did buy a motor and I like the idea of that feature. :-)

Hi Oliver and Hageha! I do not know whether to keep could, but if possible I would like to buy such a plate ready functional. If you oeri to sell something, I want to know at what price and how to purchase. Preferably by PayPal.
You also may ask you to post some photos containing all the wires towards processor?

Well, my board is talking, beeping and controlling the backlight. I have still to test the serial interfaces, then I'll put it in a TX, it's on a test bed at the moment.

Checked the fit of the 2 board designs tonight, both work well. The T board will be simpler to make at home, while the other board provides more real estate. I've completed the layout for T board using all through hole components, similar to MikeB's layout. I'm working on a full SMD & also another using DIP packages for the 2 big chips, similar to HaGeHa's layouts. I still have to confirm a few of the component choices though.

Once I'm done I'll check in the Eagle CAD 6.3 designs for download. I use OSH Park (a PCB batching service) for all my boards, I've stopped etching them myself unless I need a board right away. The boards are double sided with silk screening & solder masking on both sides. The board should be around $10, although you have to order a minimum of 3.

Serial RS232 is OK, just read the program out using it. Just need to check the logic serial to the M64 and the mechanical fit, then I'll be ready to release all the build information.
