The pinout is on the datsheet I've posted.. but just in case..
With the flat side up and the legs facing you.. from left to right..
GND, Vin (5V form the other regulator), Vout (3.3V output)

I hope it is clear now.. A good idea is to check the regulator is sending 3.3V on Vout before you connect the pin back to the radio.. just in case. ;)

If your original photo is correct then your screen connector is not properly connected. I can see a slight angle and it seems to not be fully inserted.

oh.. s**t. Just an idea.. C.Joao had a similar problem with his radio.. Maybe disconnect your battery and measure all the resistors that go to the LCD.. I think he had a couple bad ones..

I had one hole dead divisor. I was waiting upon a feedback of a working 5V and 3.3V to get there. but JHSA is like a Cop! he is always probing around the posts :P

I need to ask, do you have a oscilloscope ? it could help but its probably one thing you don't have or don't "know about"

and there goes JHSA with his experience and programs and tells us: those sound card scopes could help. (I don't know... they supposed to work to 20Khz. the radio "is faster")

btw. could you take another photo of the board? the M64 and the LCD plug zone. with macro mode on, some light and no flash. maybe the camera on a stand :P (mine is bad so I need to do all that...)

I'll take that as a complement.. You mentioned the sound card scope.. I didn't

I was saying about testing the resistors with a multimeter ;)

I recently had the same problem when i was doing my sound mod. Seems as though the transmitter case must be closed in order for the ground to be carried from the board on the rear case of the transmitter to the board on the front case with the power switch on it. There is a metal spring clip which contacts when the case is screwed together. Up until recently I was able to power the unit and have a working LCD while the cases were apart. But for some reason this is no longer the case. I check the input supply voltage to the regulators and found it to be aroung 1 to 2 volts ... not enough to run the electronics. This led me to tracing the power distribution from the battery to each board. This is where I found that the ground was not being fed to the main PC board. I soldered a wire from the rear board at the base of the metal clip with a connector on it. The other wire I soldered to the place on the switch board where contact is supposed to be made with the metal clip thereby connecting ground. So I now need to unplug yet one more connector to get the rear of the case separated from the front. But I now have a working display.
