er9x is the best known firmware. It has a superb range of features and is well supported by the community. Well worth trying out.

If the backlight is working then most of the hardware is OK. We are assuming your backlight is connected to the voice board, not still connected to pin 17 of the processor.

Have you set the speaker mode to BeeprVoice or PspkrVoice?

I've run all configs with JHSA. then I started probing around.

and yes, it was on pispkrvoice , back-light it at the new board.

after some time I could easily distinguish the LCD data from the add-on board data. since the LCD data runs much faster, it is not hard to understand it.

in the inputs I had all data flowing, on output only had the back-light info.

I always brick-wall on some part of the mod. this time I don't have spares and it will take 3 to 5 days to get them. meanwhile I'll get the telemetry and some other features going...

telemetry worked on first try! can't believe I got it right so quick and without any weird problems! next step, wait for parts... try to get a stable amp to do the work (that seems to be overloading the module)

Mr jhsa - I've noticed my voices are slightly different to yours in the voice pack. Just to check, are you using: iSpeech, English female (UK), normal speed? Could simply be my Audacity equalizer setting, but thought I would check. Cheers.

Yeh still needs a little trickery though. This is what I typed to ask it to say my welcome message: "Welcome to ei are, 9 x!!!,,, Argo piloting!!!"

Took me awhile to get it (her) to say 'e' (as in 'e'r9x) ;)

You could look at the Voice Open9X thread. Thomas9x has made a PCB and links to it. Here's the start of that sub-topic: viewtopic.php?f=45&t=1257&start=30#p21291

Cheers.

that board should be the 'exact same' the only part I don't agree is the audio transformer. I have one of the simplest ideas in order to remove that click (when using an external amp) and as soon as I can test it I will report back with photos and details, schematics and probably layouts. I hope I get my parts soon.

looks like I brick-walled again! both my old and new 74's do the same. they have the signals on the input but no signals on the output. (only backlight works good)

does the busy signal from the sound module influence the data outputed from the 74 ? (backlight works so I don't really think so...)

apple mode on: iQuit! if my new module arrives I'll test ONCE and if it does not work I won't try to make it! I might try with an hammer instead of being careful about ESD's. it might work.

Can you post pictures of you board with the '574 on it, both sides? I assume you have checked there are no shorts on the '574 outputs.
What are you using to check for signals on the outputs of the '574?
We should be able to get you running, if necessary, I'll do a test version of er9x to help. Since the backlight is working there can't be too much wrong.

I'm just getting mad about this. I could post pictures later. I'm going in the swimming pool to relax a bit.

I'm using a screenscope ssc-a531 (with function generator) its not perfect but it works. a rigol wouldn't work for me at the time I ordered this.

humph!

I just got my current sensor FAS-100.
I get shown e.g. "9.8 amp". (the measured value o.k.)
Announced "ninety-eight" - without amps. Factor 10 too large.
Or am I doing something wrong again?

C.Joao: If it is not the layout I designed, then I really need to see what you have built to be able to help.

Hageha: What revision of er9x are you using, I thought I fixed this in r769.

about the photos. will take them by the night. I'm off to help out on a bar/pub (sound issues. gonna re-wire the walls)

but I'll leave the layout I've used to create the veroboard. I took the 5V from the switch board (changed the VR there).

p.s.: I could make the Standard schematic and layout to public use and then someone place it on the wiki

I made this layout wondering about the vero-board.
