Hi all hoping to tap into your collective experience for help.

Have finished wiring up my audio mod, updating to ER9X-772...but get no audio out :? I have programed the radio to PiSpkrVoice and programmed one voice safety switch to the AIL TX switch for testing.

Here is what I observe:
  • Backlight switching via new interface cct works fine.
  • If I turn the radio on and put my ear on the speaker I can just hear a burst of tones (not voice), pause, and then another burst of tone. This as the TX goes through Splashscreen then to Model display.
  • If I activate my AIL switch I hear one burst of tone, putting switch back again gives another burst (I programmed "BOTH" option on safety switch).
  • If I do all this with the SDcard out I hear nothing at all.
Seems to me the logic of TX, Interface & Audio-Module is working fine. However the audio part of the audio-module is dead. What are your thoughts guys? Anyone seen this before?

Many thanks, Argo.

Mike, I've read your discussion on the other thread about speaking values with 2 decimal numbers , for example 3.84..
In this case I think we will need some files for when the decimals are .00, .01, .02, .03, etc till .09
What do you think? if so we could use the file number from 0006 to 0015 for example.

Mike, there's a problem with er9x_frsky_772..
Flashed this latest version and everytime I turn the radio on the volume is very low.. then, if I go to the main settings menu and set the volume to 6 and back to seven again, the volume changes to full as it should.. if I turn the radio off and on again, I have to repeat the procedure..

Ok, flashed my eeprom again, Had the same problem..
reflashed 772, the same problem
flashed 768, no problem at all, it worked
flashed 771, no problem, it worked
flashed 772, have the volume problem again..
So, obviously something changed from 771 to 772 as far as the volume is concerned.. it's not my hardware or eeprom because everything works with earlier versions of the fw..

I think these voice modules behave slightly differently. You are losing a volume setting instead of, say, the 'welcome' message. I'll change things again.

While the volume is low, do you always get the 'welcome' message?

Currently (r772) I send:
Set volume to 2
Set volume to 2
Set volume to required setting
speak 'welcome' message.

I was hoping if anything got lost it would be one of the first 2 items. I'll change to setting the volume to the required setting 3 times, takes slightly more flash which is why I did what we currently have. (I think I'm paranoid over using up flash!)

Thinking about decimals, what we probably want is:
POINT ZERO
POINT ONE . . .
POINT NINE.

as ten extra voice files. Then single decimal places work better on the stock board, and if you want 2 decimal places then it won't be too bad. Only cell voltage needs 2 decimals so far.

Awww thats nice you all missed me, is that missed me like a dose of dysentery. I have been here I've been lurking, I'm into the new sound order now I have flashed and I was just looking over the list of the latest sound text file you posted. It has the list numbers 0400 to 0499 for numbers 0 to 99, is that in addition to the numbers 0 to 5 as 0000 to 0005 can we ditch them from the 0400 to 0499 block, or even does it make a difference.

BTW forgot to put in first time, how do I find out what version I am flashing/d/loading before I flash and read it from the Tx.

Yes, I'm getting the welcome message.. thanks Mike

Do you want me to make files saying POINT ZERO to POINT NINE? Instead of using a single file with POINT?
so for X.10 it wil say X POINT ONE ZERO??

Just trying to understand it.. sorry but my brain is still inside my computer UPS that I've just repaired..

Bill as far as I understand you can't ditch them.. they are still used.. Check my sound list, there are all the files needed. You can erase 0006 to 0020.

Joao

EDIT: You can also delete the files, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90..
Actually I have 2 new files on 70 and 71.. RSSI Alert and TSSI Alert.

Yes, so 3.84 volts is:
'THREE' 'POINT EIGHT' 'FOUR' 'VOLTS'
I would be quite happy with:
0006 'Point Zero'
0007 'Point One'
. . .
0015 'Point Nine'

for the file number allocation.

I would suggest the usual things before connecting:
  • Supply voltage around 3.3
  • Supply voltage correct polarity
  • Speaker not shorted
  • Clock and data lines around 3.3V or 0V
All these things can be measured with your TX powered up without module connected.

Best of luck :)

All looks good 3,31V at power, 8ohm speaker, data 0V or 2,7V at some combination so safe

Mike, I'm just chating to a friend and he came up with a nice idea.. to be able to set the volume with a pot, or even a switch (mute function).
I was just saying that I want to go to fly today but would have to set the volume everytime I turn the radio on due to that little bug.. He asked me why don't you revert to an earlier version? I said because I would have to open the radio and change the voice files again. Don't really want to open the radio too many times because it wears the plastic.. Then he asked, aren't you able to set the volume with a pot or a switch?? I thought, what a nice idea.. what do you think??

Surprisingly yes! I dont use the feature myself - but the idea is that you can assign a custom function that does a volume control on a per model basis.

Quite sure mike could grab/use some of the code :-)

I would like to see a volume control on a pot for ersky as well. I normally have my volume at 12 but would like to increase it when those noisy nitro types start flying beside me.

Just got an email from this company who I have used before and they now have this item for sale,
http://www.hobbytronics.co.uk/component ... d-breakout had a quick read of it and it has confused me. Does this one item do all the functions MP3 two wire serial etc or is it as we have had to do and specify which mode you need. Or more importantly is there something in there that will allow us to convert the boards that were ordered in haste.
