Speech to sound converter
Speech to sound converter
Hi all.
I've found that a number of spoken commands are or were missing from the Taranis, especially with regards to sailplanes or EP powered models.
I have used audacity to record my own commands with my own voice.......but it was a bit disturbing listening to myself !!.
After trying various free bits of software.......I found this free "text to speech" program
http://rcsettings.com/voice/
The voice is pretty basic.......but you can write what you like, save it......and it's downloaded as a WAV file. These files can then be assigned to the Taranis, and selected for whatever you need them for (remember to give them an 8 letter name, else they won't show up in OpenTx 2.0 !!).
You already may know about it, and use it.....for that I apologise.
I hope this helps,
Steve.

Hi Steve, have you seen what the openTX developers do provide with openTX Speaker (http://www.open-tx.org/2014/03/15/opentx-speaker/) and Recorder (http://www.open-tx.org/2014/03/21/opentx-recorder/)?

Other than that, I liked it.

opentX Speaker helpful to know:
1. make your language and voice style settings here (dependend on that it will store under \sounds\'language'\)
2. press the "New sentence" button - blank fields will be filled out with sample text and will appear in the left part of your window below the listed sound. Change the text in the fields like you want them.
3. press the "Generate Voice Files" button - this will store the file in the directory described under 1. Now you should see your file(s) if you take a look into your \sounds\'language'\ directory.

Re: Speech to sound converter
Hiya, I followed your instructions.........and it seems the first time I tried it, it never saved a "sound" file to my desktop. On trying it again yesterday, it did........and I've now converted all commands to "Windows Helen". Loads clearer, a little slow......but far better than anything else.Infinity wrote:opentX Speaker helpful to know:

Re: Speech to sound converter
I'm having a heck of a time using the Open Tx Speaker.
I see where the newly created file is saved on the left side of the screen, but it's nowhere to be found on my computer.
Does anyone know how to get the file on the left side of the speaker program to save to the SD card?
It is nowhere on my machine.
Thanks
Bob

Re: Speech to sound converter
Are you able to add Dutch to that list?
I have already translated the interface and am considering to add a real voice like Amber.
I would like to test this first.

Re: Speech to sound converter
Sorry, I have not investigated TTS at all lately as I was very disappointed with it 20 years ago. Lately it's improving, but AFAIK most stuff has to be paid for.
Where would I need to look?
Edit:
I found this
https://www.cereproc.com/en/storesapi?page=1
But I'm not expecting you to pay for it...
I need to know more about the subject.

All the ones I have on our server... I purchased.
Happy to install one if wanted. . But not so happy to buy it - would need to be funded.
