Help. X9D+ after firmware upgrade doesn't bind correctly.

I have an older X9D+ that I was using with an XM+ receiver. I had to make some repairs after crashing and decided that I would upgrade my X9D+ firmware while I waited for parts. The upgrade seemed to go ok but I was getting the SD card warning. I researched and fixed that by downloading the card contexts for the version I upgraded to 2.3.9. I then proceeded to try connecting to my model. It did not work when I tried just turning them both on as if I was preparing to fly. I then proceeded to rebind the receiver. From the LED indicating lights it looks like I was able to bind as the LED shows solid green but when I view the receiver in Cleanflight, it doesn't show any movement from the transmitter even with the battery attached.
