18-Channels for FlySky AFHDS2A

openTx has introduced a range of new features, ideas and bling. It is fast becoming the firmware of choice for many users. openTx will run on ALL current hardware platforms, including the gruvin9x and sky9x boards. Work has already started to support the new FrSky X9D radio!

18-Channels for FlySky AFHDS2A

Post by wilopaan »

I git the information that the newest firmware for FlySky receivers make the capable to output 18-channels on the IBus. I don't know if this is correct but if it is, the question arises: can OpenTx transfer more than 16-channels via AFHDS2A?

Not aware of this capability. That would depend on the module, so you need to mention what you're using when asking these questions.

It is a Jumper T12 with the 4in1-MPM-Module with latest 1.3.0.76 firmware.

MPM does not support more than 16 channels in any protocol nor can it be given more than 16 by a radio with the current communication protocols.

Ok.

Are there any OpenTX-capable TX that are capable of doing more than 16 channels?

FrSky's ACCESS radios support up to 24 channels on the internal module.

That is a multi just like what you have.

I don't know of any 3rd party module that supports more than 16.

What is the limiting factor here? The SBUS protocol? Are there considerations to extend that e.g. SBUS-24?

The multi's serial protocol, which was designed for 16CH becasue nothing else needed more.

Yes and you can send all of them if you use 2 modules.

Until ACCESS there simply was no single module or RC system/protocol that did more than 16CH. So most things are designed around 16CH.
There is no point passing more than 16CH to multi if multi doesn't support any protocol that can carry more than 16CH, etc.

So, you need an transmitter with internal and external module ?

Yep.
The T12 is basically the only current OpenTX-supported radio that doesn't have an internal module.

The upcoming RadioMaster does have an internal MPM as well as an external tray. So, one can use an additional external MPM here to use to receivers to achieve 32 channels in total, right? Thanks for your patience ...
