Is there any version of 2.3 with working simulator/telemetry simulator?

I was using 2.3.4 and simulator doesn't work so I downgraded to 2.2.4 but now I found already that I cannot assign s1 or s2 to volume global variables, they aren't listed. Ugh. Is there any version of 2.3 where the simulation works, I like using it for creating special functions. Thanks
