Taranis x9d plus ver 2.1.6 updates

Hi all,

I have bought a second hand taranis x9d plus £50 , all works well, it's just got really old software 2.1.6. Can I just update to the latest version or do I need to do each in turn, same with the sound pack.

Ok so I've updated using windows 10. The radio is saying it's on the new version and I have done the bootloader as well. Nothing seems to have changed. I have put a sounder pack on the sd card, the radio shows them but I only get what I had before. I also wanted to set a volume switch and am unable to do this. Help!!
