Upgrading your Stock MOSFET for the Heated Print-Bed (CR10 3D Printer)

Post by bob195558 »

Upgrading the Stock CR10 MOSFET that powers the Heated Print-Bed.

Upgrading the Stock MOSFET is partly a safety issue.
The Stock MOSFET can burn up, so replacing it will
help to make your printer more reliable.

1) Purchased the TH3D High Amp 12V/24V MOSFET V2 – Heated Bed or Hotend.

2) Two lengths of 12 gauge silicone wire, one Red and one Black about 10 inches long.

3) Two 16-14 wire connectors.

4) Cut 4 pieces of old PTFE Tubing about 1/2" long.

5) Four M3 x 25mm Screws with nuts.

6) Open up the CR10 control box and remove the power supply.

7) Remove the Stock CR10 MOSFET with the small Red and Black Control-Board wires.

8) Check that you have the Voltage Jumper set to 12V volts on the
TH3D High Amp 12V/24V MOSFET V2 for your stock CR10 printer.

9) Next you will want to locate the new TH3D MOSFET in a new place
where the rear Control-Box fan will be able to cool it.
View the photo below to see where I choose to install it using the four old
cut pieces of PTFE Tubing as standoff 's with the M3 screws and nuts.

10) Connect the small control Red and Black wires that came with the new
TH3D MOSFET to the Control-Board's Heat-Bed terminal connections.

11) Connect the wires from the Heat-Bed to the new TH3D High Amp 12V MOSFET.

12) Connect the 12 gauge wires from the 12V Power-Supply to the new High Amp 12V
MOSFET, and note, these wires are polarity sensitive.

Upgrade 3D Printer HeatedBed with MOSFET.jpg
Tim at TH3D made a new video called "Upgrade Your Printer with a Heated Bed MOSFET - Super Quick & Easy!"
This video is not using a CR10 Printer, but has some very good info.
