Taranis QX7 + X8R receiver. If I "spam" my controls, the light on the receiver suddenly turns red and everything stops for a second or two. The light will then turn green and everything will be fine again. Am I somehow over loading it?

This is for a plane.
CH1 - Throttle
CH2 - Ailerons (two servos through a Y-harness)
CH3 - Elevator
CH4 - Rudder

UPDATE: I had been experiencing this problem with a 3s lipo. I tried a 4s and it does it almost immediately with any input.

Sounds like the power supply for the receiver and servos is unsuitable and can't cope with the power draw.

If you are using a ESC or a BEC to supply your receiver, you need one that can supply more current.
Your receiver stops working because the servos draw more current that the ESC / BEC can supply, and the voltage drops beyong the receiver minimal operating voltage. DO NOT FLY YOUR MODEL WITH THAT SETUP. You will crash it.. in the air, the servos will draw even more current due to air resistance on the controls.
