Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Hey, is that the PCB only, or is it populated??

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
I would like to throw in my request for 1 or 2, depending on price.
Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
I am also interested in a board hopefully populated but a PCB only would be ok too.

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Hi Staggie,
I am also interested in upgrading a Turnigy 9x and maybe a couple of Spektrum dx8s using 9Xtreme-2 boards. I'd prefer to get fully populated boards, but my soldering skills are certainly up to the task of working with these. If you are able to have some made, I would like two or 3 9Xtreme-2 upgrade boards. I'm looking forward to trying this - sounds like a blast. If I can't get these, I will probably buy some Taranis X9D boards for those Spektrum TXs.
Thanks, AceG

Hi Kym (Staggie),Staggie wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 1:58 pm Hi All,
Sorry for the delayed reply, have been on holidays and flat out with work and not enough time for the toys.
Over the weekend and next week I will look into getting some made and see what the price is going to look like,
at least with a few people wanting might make my wallet feel a little nicer.
Cheers,
Kym
There are some people who are wanting to be able to purchase 9Xtreme upgrade boards.
Were you able to look into getting some new 9Xtreme boards made ?
Er9x on 9x radio, with Smartieparts Programmer and TelemetrEZ Board.
ErSky9x on Taranis, Sky9x, 9Xtreme radios.

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
The 9xtreme board was designed for the Turnigy / FlySky 9x radio, it won't work with Spektrum radios.

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Would there be any reason the 9X radio would only recognize one 9Xtreme board STM32 chip? I am asking because I made a couple of the boards from the files provided and can only get one of them to work. When I transfer the STM32 chip from the working 9xtreme board to the other 9Xtreme board, the board I transferred it to now works, so I know each board works individually. When I add a brand new STM32 chip, and flash it, all the 9X displays is the 9Xtreme r00.3 message which I know to be on the 9X chip. I have tried with 2 separate STM32 chips and do not understand why I can't get it to work. STM32 chips are all from the same seller and same roll. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe I purchased all of those parts through Digikey. I replaced the POGO MF200-2121 with ED9003-ND. I am in the US, but they ship internationally also.trinhthinh38 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 10:51 am Hello,

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Hello all,
I am about to get a few boards printed but, after reading through the thread a few times, it looks like some changes were needed to make the boards correct/safe. Do the Production Files that Staggie uploaded contain those changes? If not, does anyone have production ready files with the required changes? Preferably already packaged so it is an easy upload to oshpark, I can change naming conventions if needed. These will be my first professionaly printed circuit boards so I want to make sure I get all the changes on there that need to be. Assuming everything comes out as planned, and I dont burn out the first board or anything weird, I may have a couple extra if anyone is interested also.
Please let me know so I can get these made! Excited to have a new project to work on!

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Not sure how much interest anyone has in these boards still. I have thrown up the revised schematic and pcb layout that includes all the items Staggie listed and also jhsa's information regarding the i2c tracks running over and along some audio related tracks.
If anyone would like to have a look over them and add any input, suggestions etc. If no one posts anything over the next couple of weeks I'll order some and get to work trying to assemble some, and if there is enough interest I'll have some blanks for sale for a reasonable price.
Also, anyone who has an existing kit, can someone please give me the dimensions of the rgb panel? I'm assuming they are the same as the screen?
J4 pin2 now goes the Net "battery protected" between Q1 pin2 and Q3 pin2 instead of going to Q3 pin3.
100ohm resistors R53 and R60 have been added on nets PXX-PPM1 and 2 in series on the way to the processor.
J6 pin7 - R53 - IC1 pin23
U2 pin2 - R60 - IC1 pin43
(the above fixes were thanks to the information provided on the forums from Staggie)
Also, as per jhsa's suggestion, the i2c data tracks were moved around a little and DAC_Combined was moved to the other side of the board to try and clear up the interference reported.

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Really cool, thanks.. I stil didn't have a look, but has the reverse polarity protection problem been also addressed?
The original board had a "mistake" on the reverse polarity circuit, which left it unprotectd, hence the need to cut a track on the switch board and solder a protection diode.

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
I actually hadn't added anything for reverse polarity. After reviewing some posts and seeing the information from Mike I have now added it to the schematic, just having a little trouble with diptrace saying the connection is broken once i add it to the pcb. I'll update this post once it's completed.
Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
What are you doing for solving the reverse polarity problem?

Version 1.2.1 released for review -
Added a SSA34 diode between J4 Pin3 and PSUPPLY nets. (as per Mikes diagram pretty much https://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopi ... 40#p101768)

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Nahhh, that is not the fix I mean that diode should not even be needed.
Q3 is the real reverse polarity protection.
I think on J4 pin 2, instead of connecting to BATTERY, it should connect to BATTERY_PROTECTED on your schematic, just after Q3. This way, i think you wouldn't need the diode between J4 and PSUPPLY.
The original schematic, by having the switch board J4 connected directly to the battery bypasses Q3 and therefore bypassing the reverse polarity protection..
But I would like Mike to confirm this is the right fix..

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Ok so basically your just saying the following as per pic
Much easier if that is all it is... if Mike agrees then I'll change schematic. The rest of the stuff was pretty straight forward, though wouldn't mind s_mac's input about where I moved DAC_Combined - just want to make sure I haven't messed something before putting in an order, as I would like to keep my testicles!
Presently considering an order of about 30 odd boards... would work out to about $7 USD excluding postage for those who are interested(subject to change of course). Only enough to cover costs really. I'm assuming most will want to chase up their own parts. I'm not against looking at getting them assembled but yeah obviously the costs go up significantly.
Rev 1.2.2

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Yep, this is a matter of concern for many of us
Please count with me for a least one.. Not assembled of course. I like the fun of building stuff, and the thought of 100% building a radio is always present.. I did build my own radios but apart from replacing a couple processors on a 9x main board I have always used ready replacement boards just like the 9xtreme. Next step is to also build the replacement boardPresently considering an order of about 30 odd boards... would work out to about $7 USD excluding postage for those who are interested(subject to change of course). EDIT: I believe the protection now is correct.. But let's wait for Mike's opinion.

Yes to using BATTERY_PROTECTED on J2J4, this is shown on Staggie's V1.2 circuit.
I note the original PCB has a ground plane on an inner layer.

Didn't even notice that to be honest! That's the problem with just having the pdf, it's a lot of connections to check.

If no comments/revisions by lets say the 7th of January, I'll look at placing that order. Anyone that wants one should put there hand up over the next week in case I need more than planned. Postage will be on an individual basis.
