Zeroing the altimeter and drift compensation ?
Good morning to all
My OpenXsensor works very well except for one slight roblem: the altimeter always starts at -3 meters.
I suppose there is a way to zero it but I can't find where this happens or how.
Now, the alt measurement always has some slight drift (decreases from -3 m to -4,5m after some minutes). I tried changing the Alt Temp Compensation parameter, from +1200 to -300, it stays the same. Any idea ?
I know it will never be perfectly stable but is i possible to keep this drift at a minimum value ?
Thanks a lot !

Re: Zeroing the altimeter and drift compensation ?
If you press and hold the enter key for a while you get a menu. In this menu you select reset telemetry. Then it resets the high to zero.
Re: Zeroing the altimeter and drift compensation ?
Thanks to all
Yes I use 5611. Also 280 elsewhere.
Thanks for the Telemetry Reset, it worked fine.
What about the drifting ? after half an hour I get a zero at -4m, starting from 0. I am worried because the Alt Temp Comp value does not seem to influence ...
Thanks again !

Re: Zeroing the altimeter and drift compensation ?
It always worked for me. Are you sure, the line is not commented with //? Or it is a hardware issue with this MS5611.
G-RX8 (green) vs. openXsensor (red) uncompensated/compensated
Re: Zeroing the altimeter and drift compensation ?
Could be a hardware issue. It works ok apart from this drift. I will get some other 5611 and compare.
The 280 works real good, it will do for the time.
Thanks a lot Carbo, your help on this post and others have really been helpful, mainly in understanding what was going on, bringing solutions !
Have a good day

Right, but you did help me a lot.
By the way, the other MS5611 I have is Dead (on arrival), so are two BMP280, one only working, fine. No problem, just change of supplier !

Re: Zeroing the altimeter and drift compensation ?
By the way, does anyone have an adress which sells 'good' MS5611 and BMP280 ?
Out of 5 pcs I had, 3 where dead on arrival. They came from the Bay.
Would be useful to share
