taranis x9dplus parking sensor

Post by angelogasparro »

Hi :)
I'm Angelo , I'm from Italy
I have a taranis x9dplus and 2 x8r receiver in parallel for 16 channel. I use this radio to programme an rc car 1/10 scale , in particular a land rover defender 110. I have seen different video on YouTube where a lot of guys simulate car parking sensor using arduino board , 1 ultrasonic sensor and 1 buzzer. in this way buzzer sound is proportional to the distance read from ultrasonic sensor.
My question is:
Is it possible to make the same without using arduino board? I have 1 ultrasonic sensor and 1 buzzer( the same of the video) , i wouldn't use arduino for this because it is a waste ... So I ask you if it is possible to programme the radio to make the same :)
I look forward to your response,
Best regards,
Angelo

I don't think you can make it work without the use of some kind of microprocessor to convert the signal to a signal the X8R will take as an S.Port input signal

To my knowledge the Ultrasonic sensor requires something to trigger a sound pulse, measure time until the echo comes back and that determines the distance from the echo source.

I can't see how that would be done without at least an ATtiny. Then the microprocessor would need to send SPort to the receiver so the result could come to the transmitter as telemetry as tonnie78 suggests.
The X8R does not have an A2 input if memory serves me.

I thonk Mike designed an adapter to allow the receivers to have A1 to A4 I think. The schematics and code are buried somewhere in thos forum. I believe you can also buy it from Alof Hobbies. But I am not sure.

X8R2Analog device provides A2 (and A1) on the SPort bus.

The X8R2Analog device (available from Aloft and T9HobbySport) provides an analog input for SPort receivers like the X8R.
If you have an analog signal available giving your parking distance, this device would allow you to get the X8R to handle the analog voltage.
