About a year ago I upgraded to r820 from a much much older version of er9x, did the "ooooh shiny" on the many changes and then put it away again for another year. Today I finally set about playing with the logical and safety switches for some alarms and because its all so different I broke down and grabbed the updated manual. (Great job on that BTW)
My problem is I'm finding that some of the settings in the manual don't match what I see in the radio, or in EEPE with the models I downloaded from the radio. I found references to changing the default eeprom version number in EEPE and I've done that (I was on version 1, now changed to 4), which fixes the models in EEPE, but reflashing the models to the radio doesn't seem to have added the additional options to the models in the Tx. I've spent about an hour doing various searches on the forums but of course there's hundreds of posts on "eeprom", "version" and "upgrade", none of which talked about the three together.
I'm trying to play with the logical switches and the safety switches for a low battery alarm using FasV (based on example #11 in the manual).
I've successfully created the 3 logical switches and I can now see them correctly in the radio (after the version update and rewrite of the eeprom above), but I still only see two types of safety switch: Safety and Sticky. There's no "Audio" or "Voice" - I'm interested in Audio (I don't have the voice mod). These clearly show in EEPE but when downloaded to the Tx, the "A" Safety switch turns back into "Safety" in the radio.
My radio is a now ancient m64 Turnigy 9x with the FrSky mod.
Have I missed something simple? Is it just a limitation of my poor old m64?
As an aside, my EEPE shows the TimeOff logical switch as "Timer" with two values to set, but when downloaded to the radio it shows "TimeOff x ON y" as per the manual example (with x and y being the values I set as the first and second value for the Timer logical switch type in EEPE).
EEPROM version changes?
Re: EEPROM version changes?
I can see you still didn't check the "Voice" menu in the Model Setup.
Once in the menu, you have all the conditions to create audio alarms. You normally don't need logical switches anymore. It is all in the voice menu. Obviously, with this menu you also don't need the safety switches "A".

Re: EEPROM version changes?
Thanks for the quick reply. I admit I didn't look in the Voice menu as I don't have the Voice mod.
Its past bedtime here and I can see in that section of the manual there's an option for a filetype of "Audio" which should do what I need. I'll have a play around with it tomorrow.
I'm using the logical switches as per the example I cited in the manual to only alarm if the voltage drops for more than 3 seconds. I assume I can still use the logical switch to trigger the "voice" alarm as well right?
I saw that and just completely skipped over that section. Perhaps an update is in order? The updated Manual on page 61 wrote: Voice Alarms

Re: EEPROM version changes?
Yes, of course you can
Just use the logical switch in the Voice Alert switch field..

Re: EEPROM version changes?
Because the M64 is so tight on flash space, I removed the 'V' and 'A' options on the safety switches.
You do still have at least 8 "Voice Switches" at the end on the safety switches. Voice Alerts, which also do audio alerts, are the preferred method.

Thanks jhsa and Mike.
Is there a list somewhere that describes what had been cut from the m64 version? I really appreciate the work you're doing keeping these old m64 versions going even with all the new changes and features

Re: EEPROM version changes?
The 'best' source for changes is this: https://github.com/MikeBland/mbtx/blob/ ... ngelog.txt.
I haven't removed much from the M64 version, but it now doesn't get many enhancements either.

Thanks Mike, I was aware of that change log, but had hoped there was an easier to process list
Now I know what I'm looking for it was easy to find!
Something like this would probably have helped me:

João, can I suggest an update to the manual as per this post above viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9954#p124929 so that others like me without the Voice Mod don't just skip over that section entirely?https://github.com/MikeBland/mbtx/blob/master/radio/er9x/changelog.txt line 80 wrote: Remove safety switch A and V from '64-frsky version

Voice Alarms provide a single powerful menu that allows you to program all your voice, audio and haptic (vibration) alarms. They can be used to signal a wide variety of events and conditions, from warning of low battery or high altitude, to announcing “Gear up!” or providing a spoken read-out of telemetry values, to making the transmitter beep or vibrate when it's time to land.

Will look into it when I have some time. Thanks
