ersky9xr frsky mavlink possible?

Post by hdkuchen »

hi guys,

i just purchased a turnigy 9xrpro and i am a totally beginner in the rc field.

is it possible to use frsky telemetry from a D8R II PLus on the turnigy 9xrpro
when i use this mod?:

https://code.google.com/p/er9x-frsky-mavlink/

it says its based on er9x. Is it working with ersky9xr? Is there a difference?
I guess i dont need the hardware mod for the transmitter since i have the pro version now?

If its not working can you tell me another way to get apm telemetry working on my 9xrpro?
already read the posts to jeti and mavlink integration.

Thanks in advance
best regards Felix :D

At this moment NO. The 9XR-PRO runs ersky9x on the ARM processor of the 'PRO, rather than er9x on the AVR processor of the 9X/9XR.

I will, however, look at the changes needed to get this to work on the 'PRO.

thanks mike...

do you or anyone else know how to get apm telemetry working on the 9xr pro ?
am i right when i say i just need to convert the mavlink to frysky since the pro can natively understand frysky.
anyone achieved this already ?

im so sad that i cant get my telemetry working on the pro was so sophisticated that its awesome with the sound alerts

I don't have any MavLink hardware, so testing any changes will be difficult for me.
I'll do what I can to merge the modified er9x code into ersky9xr, but I will need someone else to test it's working properly.
I've had a quick look and I don't think the changes are too difficult to merge in.

If you are prepared to get an Arduino to do the conversion from Ardupilot to FrSky, as shown on the site you linked to, I'll sort changes to handle the data as shown there.

ahh mike i think i missunderstood it... my bad

from what i can see is, that the 9xr pro with ersky9xr can understand frysky protocoll out of the box correct?
so i just need to convert the mavlink to frysky and send it down right?
i should see directly telemetry data in the radio?

since i couldnt find someone already tested it with 9xr pro in the internet it would be awesome
if you or anyone else could confirm if i see it correct.

thanks in advance
you guys here rock, love the 9x pro

kind regards

Yes, the 9XR-PRO does recognise FrSky telemetry as shipped.
The link you posted sohws the Arduino not only sending "standard" FrSky telemetry values, but also sending some extra values specific to MavLink. These extra values will currently be ignored.

I was recently sent a unit that will send me MAVLINK telemetry. It is just waiting for a bit of 'spare' time for me to add MAVLINK telemetry in.

Hi,

i loaded new firmware r219c. It says this is a start for MAVLINK telemetry.

I have found project on arduino mini pro.
https://github.com/rotcehdnih/Mavlink2F ... 2769a62eb2

I connected my apm 2.6 to arduino nano (i also have mini pro but atm168 not 328,so could not load firmware into it) which is connected to s.port of x8r frsky.
But no telemetry is shown.except rssi and a1,which are sent by x8r itself.

Do you have any suggestion? I am not sure if it is the fault of apm settings or the fact that i loaded mini pro firmware on nano or some settings on 9xr pro.

Mike which converter do you use for mavlink to s.port?

Did you connect the SPort from your TX module to the Futaba trainer jack?
I think that's mandatory if you intend to display FrSky telemetry on the 9xrPro.
Have a look at the schematics upper-right:

The SPort pin (bottom pin on the module connector) is already connected on the 'PRO ready for use with a XJT module, no extra wiring necessary.
The problem is with the nano sharing the serial port with both the onboard USB chip and an external device.

Mavlink support is generally working over either hub or SPort, see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8396.
