Voices in my head have gone.

Post by Paulusdw »

I used to have the welcome message and throttle warnings etc when I switched on.

I just upgraded to V.3390-Mike and my transmitter doesn't talk to me anymore.

Everything else seems to work and I haven't deleted any files that I know of.

What is wrong - have I upset the lady who used to tell me all sorts of things? how can I repair my relationship with her (it's the only one I have got).

At some point I started moving to named voice files rather than numbered ones. The firmware is supposed to "fall back" to previous files if the named ones are not found. It is possible I haven't got this completely correct!
Have a look on your SD card. If you have numbered files (e.g. 0415.wav) in the /voice directory that are not in the /voice/system directory, try copying thos files into the /voice/system directory.

I didn't have a voice/system/ directory - just a voice/user directory - I will create one and use named files.

She's back - whoohoo.

Do I need all the numbered and named files in the voice\system directory - can I delete the ones just in voice?

In fact what should be the folder structure of my memory card?

Sorry to be a pest.

I will sort the voice pack very soon, and then upload it again.. Mike, I do apologise but I think I have lost that voice list you sent me a while ago with the named files that you added to the System folder in the firmware.. Well, the files are already in the folder, I just need to delete the unused numbered ones from the voice directory. Did you also rename the numbers? (400 to 499).

I needed to clean my inbox and I think I've deleted it :( Could you please resend it? Thank you and sorry..

They say, "It's better to keep quiet and have people presume your an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." That being said, can someone tell me what is v-3390 and where is the version number at?

thanks

I'm not sure why that number ever existed. In general, it gets incremented every time I compile a copy of ersky9x, so it doesn't really mean anything. I think I'll remove it.
The really important numbers are:
SVN_VERS "ersky9x-r218"
and the date and time values.

Thanks Mike, I never thought to look at Eepe/Eepskye since last look it was at v218, now I see it's at v419 and in Windows under details shows today's date as date created, modified and date accessed and has always been listed as "eePeInstall.exe". Is there any way to know what has changed in a new version release and whether or not we need to upgrade. I'm guessing the inability to show when you created or posted the current version is a windows limitation or operator error.

For er9x and ersky9x there are "changelog.txt file that show changes for releases.
I'm trying to get to a point, using Github, where I get a new release out, then try to do only one or two changes before the next release. I just seem to be getting too many small changes to do and not enough time to get the release out.

I'm sorry. Let me ask it this way, how do I know if I need to update to "eepe/eepskye for Windows Provisional version 419"?

OK, we have a bit of confusion here.
ersky9x is at (official) revision r217 (on www.er9x.com), and I have provisional r218 test versions posted on this forum.
eepskye is at (official) revision r418 (on www.er9x.com), and I have provisional r419 (also on www.er9x.com) with a specific fix to work properly with the 9Xtreme. I also have later test versions posted on this forum.

I trying to get everything properly released very soon, then try to be more careful so you know when, and what, updates are available.

I've got (3390) v218 because of the deadband fix along with B/L v1.8. Although eepskye is installed and configured for auto-updates, I never actually open it and use it. I use the drivers it installed and access the card directly for f/w updating. I just NOW opened it up and it updated to v419 before showing it's GUI. The question is now a moot point. Sorry to waste your time.
