Guys is it possible to upgrade the atmel processor on a stock TH 9x board with a bigger atmel ? bigger memory i mean :)

You could replace the M64 with either a M128 or a M2561.

er9x is supporting both M128 and M2561.
OpenTX supports the M128 but afaik doesn't support the M2561 at the moment.
I don't know if it will in the future.

Maybe one of the OpenTX guys can jump in and answer this.

Opentx supports M2561 ,but not through companion yet. So you have to compile and program yourself. Firmware works great, I do use it.

If there is demand for 2561 I will add support in Companion, this should not be a huge work!

I think there are quite a few guys like me who have still upgraded to the 2561 due to eeprom space ...
Although I'm accustomed to and satisfied with ER9X, I would like to give OpenTX a try on one of my spare TH9Xes.
Who knows for what it's worth ...
