I see that the QX7 can flash an OrX dsm/devo module with multi through the PD12 pins, just like the taranis.

One can add buttons to the taransi on PA13 and PA14 (PD12).

Is the same true for the QX7? is that PB1 and PB2?
And, I also assume you simply *don't press those buttons while flashing an Xmega device?

Early QX7s have the JTAG connections available for this, but later versions (when the SPort connector in the base is populated) do not.
