Maintenance mode on upcoming Open TX 2.0.16

Post by AlexC » Fri Mar 20, 2015 10:25 am

Has the maintenance mode up date for the 2.016 release been removed? It doesn't appear in the open or closed list anymore.

Do you mean update of smart port devices?
It is implemented in the 2.1 branch, but isn't supposed to be in 2.0.16.

Backup your EEPROM, flash the 2.1 nightly, and use the opportunity to test it and report bugs :)

I'm wondering why it isn't getting in to openTx. I put the code together, and built a version of 2.0.14 in early January this year. It only needed adding in and would be immediately available.
I would have thought with the EU firmware it would be important to add this in sooner rather than later.

Even if it is required to present it in a different way (i.e. not the maintenance mode as I wrote it), surely it would be worth just putting my code in now to make it easier to do these firmware updates.

For information:
I just downloaded the sources for 2.0.15 and within 10 minutes I had my "maintenance mode" in and it all compiled.

Mike, does 'maintenance mode' depend on the actual firmware on the radio? I just tried to flash the ersky9x bootloader on my Taranis from within the SD-CARD MENU of openTX 2.0.17.
Flashing worked flawlessly, but the bootloader was not usable, although booting.
Is it possible to compile a firmware file with just the advanced bootloader, i.e. "maintenance mode" for openTX in it, which could be flashed via the SD-CARD MENU?

I am aware of the S-PORT update capabilities of openTX 2.1, I am just curious if bootloader variations are interchangeable between various versions of openTX and ersky9x.

//EDIT:
Nevermind, I've just found and read viewtopic.php?f=45&t=6847&p=97033&hilit ... ode#p97033.
I just tried your 2.0.16 build with maintenance mode. As far as I understand it, "maintenance mode" is not part of the bootloader, but integrated into the firmware, therefore it is not possible to get "maintenance mode" by flashing the bootloader of a "maintenance mode" enabled firmware.

The bootloader is independent. Maintenance mode is part of the firmware.
