External Moduls lots of problems only with Taranis Plus

Post by Helle »

Hy,

I have 2 Taranis Version A and B more then 1,5 year
with diff opentx from r2940 to V2.00 to V2.013
No problem with external Moduls Flyksy, Spektrum, Multiprotokoll Modul
and the receivers
Never Never a Problem!
-------------------------------------

Now I have 2 Taranis Plus both Version B with opentx V2.0.13
Same external Moduls as above
Now I got lots of problems!
Not running well, interrupts, glitch, not stabil connection, not all channels running well with Servos or Gyros
Problem only with Taranis Plus and only with external Moduls

-----------------------------
No problem with internal XJT Modul at Taranis or Taranis Plus and X8R X6R
---------------------------

Tested and Settings checked step by step with Taranis and Taranis Plus

Problem only with Taranis Plus!!!!!!

What the Hell has changed at Taranis Plus with the Hardware, Driver, Power, Software for the external modul!!
Could anyone compare the both shematic for external Modul

All Settings PPM-Mode at External Modul Taranis and Taranis Plus same
8 Ch, 300us or 400us 22,5 ms pos or neg depending of Modul

All 4 Taranis have Original Akku 2000mAh
At Spectrum setting all Chanels 80%
Receivers with BEC or separate Akkus,
Same Modells at Taranis and Taranis Plus
Test with simple test Modell for Ch1-Ch8

All the same, only with Taranis Plus Problems

Does anyone have same Problems with Taranis Plus

There is a bug in 2.0.13 with polarity https://github.com/opentx/opentx/issues/1937 The polarity is reversed, you should select opposite from what is should be until 2.0.14 is out.

Hy,

I know this polarity bug, I have reported it to guthub and they have changed it
and I have tested it with pos and neg startimpules.

All the same
with normal Taranis A or B opentx V2.013 never a problem
with Taranis Plus B opentx V2.013 only Problems, no one of the external Module works well.

Same with the student output at DSC socket!

There must be changed something at the Hardware of the Taranis and Taranis Plus
Power for the external Modul or PPM-Signals

I don't have any of the taranis but I can say that for example the orange module and the frsky modules work with either PPM polarity. So, if that happens with these also, that's very unlikely to be the problem..

According to the schematics, the PPM output hardware is the same for Taranis and Taranis Plus.

I'll check the other circuitry when I get a moment.

You could try ersky9x for the plus as a way of testing the hardware.
You can download a copy from here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4676. You would need x9dp_rom.bin. Just backup your EEPROM first as ersky9x uses a slightly different format in the EEPROM.

That shouldn't be a problem (You mistyped the name it is FIRMWARE or FIRMWARES). If you download and install eepskye, you can flash the firmware directly from the PC, not needing to write it to the SD card first.
If you use the SD card, just write the firmware to the directory the bootloader uses (so FIRMWARES for the openTx bootloader), then use the bootloader to flash it. Installing ersky9x will NOT overwrite the bootloader unless you specifically carry out the bootloader update procedure. You shouldn't need to update the bootloader.

I have a latest production Taranis+ on 2.0.13, I just tested it with 4 different external modules, and everything worked perfectly.

Just needed to bend the pins a little so they got well into some of them's connector, you might want to simply check that.

I made a mistake when changing the menus for the new menu system (sorry)!
I've just posted an update on the test version thread, you will find a new copy of x9dp_rom.bin in x9dp_rom.zip there.

Fixing the German text!
I've added configuring S3 to my "To Do" list.

I'm working on the configuration for using any of the pots (not sliders) as a 6-position switch (or as a rotary encoder!).
Most is now done. Do you have a 6-pos switch fitted to the extra analog input on your PLUS?
If so, is it the standard FrSky one?
At some point I will do a calibration routine for the 6-pos switch, but if I can hard code it for now it will be easier to get working. I have a spare 6-pos switch I can use for testing.

I've just posted a test version of ersky9x for the PLUS. This has options in the HARDWARE menu to configure one of P1, P2 or P3 as a 6-pos switch or as a rotary encoder.
I've fixed the text in the "Menü DIAG"
I also noticed that the right POT was operating in the wrong direction so I have reversed this.
