New X9d+ SE 2.3.0 (2a05543a) question, now what?

Post by MrClean »

I have an old Taranis. I like my old Taranis but I wanted to update the sticks and I wanted the Haptic feedback and I wanted to have an antenae that I can swap and I wanted a transmitter that I hadn't melted the little posts to hold the switches in already with no hope of melting them again. So I bought a new Radio from Aloft.

I've done nothing to it other then put the lipo in it and charge, set the date and time, calibrated sticks/switches. I did try to set up a model and noticed that Companion isn't there. Then again, I remember I had to load that once upon a time. Now I've been out of the loop really since my grandchildren started coming and my old radio has been doing fine for the limited amounts I could use it, so I'm not up to date with what level of software is safe to up load or whether compaion is still there and danged if I can't find the info for whatever reason other than for the past 5 years or so my Google Fu has frankly, stunk.

What downloads do I need to get? Can I still get that ladys voice commands on this radio? is the OpenTXU info still applicable. Could someone have told me that the better part of my receivers won't work with this radio? The youngest of course was about 5 years old anyways, well not counting the one I just bought and sent back do to buying this radio the week after.

Feeling old and stupid, help a brother out?

http://www.open-tx.org/2019/10/05/opentx-2.3.1 downloads.
Has downloads for Companion for your PC and SD card contents. SD card contents brings the sounds and the wizard for setting up new models on the tx.
Amber (one of the Lady's voices) sounds are available but I can't find the URL. maybe https://hmvc.eu/Amber22.rar
X series receivers will work. D and V series receivers require an external module such as the iRange.

Documentation is for 2. not upgrded to 2.3 to my knowledge, but most things are the same.

Thanks.
I knew better though. It's our rush season at work, 10hours + days, including today. Would be one heck of a paycheck if I made that much money. We'll not go into my failed brain surgeon career other then to say little Billy is doing better everyday. Comedy now dis-engaged.
So I didn't mess with the radio but after getting off an hour earlier then I expected I thought I'd give it a spin. Put a new card in with some old files and hey, Ambers voice was back, hmmmm, backup card of my old taranis. And I checked the paperwork, plugged in the transmitter and saw I didn't need to load Danzig. Clicked a few buttons, downloaded a file and tada!!! Blank screen. Whuuuuu? Little reading, little prodding. Hmmmmm, Radio is supposed to be a Taranis Plus Access 2019 SE But it doesn't say plus on the screen, Scotts video says something bout that, so try the Taranis file. Okay, now it won't turn all the way off. To get back into bootloader I have to unplug the battery, replug and then I can get in. How about reloading that ole Eeprom. Folder not found. Plug it into the computer, sure its there. And so I go about backing the data off of the SD card thats in there. 10 hours? Pulled the card, put it in the computer and started transferring. Now it's moving, 45 minutes. What in the world? Just all my music and some videos on a 32 megabit card PLUS the normal files. Nice, Really nice. That gets done and I formatted the card. Extracted the expected SD card info onto it and put it back in the radio. Hooked the radio back up to companion, went to write the files. File not compatible with those on the system. Didn't have that problem when you were making them uncompatable with the system that was on it. BECAUSE I had clicked the check for compatiblity button, right. Un check, write and the moment of truth, exit.

"Welcome to Open TX". The plane making wizard is there again. I wonder if any of my old configurations will work. I have those backed up on the computer, but later.

NOW, I'm tired and my daughter wants to go hunting Christmas trees tomorrow.

Thanks for the links. I need to go back to OpenTX University. So much has changed or been added to. Other then the usual Anything done on a computer will only take about 10 minutes. 6 hours later.......
