Taranis now not powering on ???
Taranis now not powering on ???
Is MikeB able to comment?
I read a couple previous threads and I checked voltage at C54 and R76 and I get full battery voltage at both ends of R76. The processor needs 3.3V correct?
Long story short I used my Taranis for a few weeks and today when I turned it on, nothing. Really odd.
I checked pins 3 and 4 on the switch and it does short when turned on.
Thanks !

Re: Taranis now not powering on ???
Actually a good question
I did find another thing odd. R84 is empty? Can someone confirm that?

Re: Taranis now not powering on ???
Yes, it's normal.
Re: Taranis now not powering on ???
I don't have a schematic nor a taranis so I can't help much. I'm sure the people that have access to the schem. Will jump in shortly.
But anyway, the radiio has a fuse I think. Try to find it and see if isn't blown.

Re: Taranis now not powering on ???
If you have battery voltage on R76 then, I'm afraid, the main board is probably blown.
U3 is a switch mode power supply, and R76 and R77 form the potential divider on the output that feeds the output voltage back.
R76 is 9.4K (1%), R77 is 10K (1%). You should have 3.3V at one end of R76, and 1.7V at the other, with 1.7V across R77.
I'd suspect the connection between R76, R77 and pin 7 of U3 (all should be 1.7V).
Mike.

Does it have version 2.x and if so will it start to bootloader? (push both Horis trim switches toward the center while powering on)
Re: Taranis now not powering on ???
It wont start to bootloader. I was fortunate to actually order a main board. I guess they are hard to find?
Anyone have experience with the warrantee? To be honest I'm not going to bother unless peoples experience has been, well easy. So far with everything I've bought from China it hasn't been
Thanks everyone for the help!

Re: Taranis now not powering on ???
All major dealers carry the spare parts, so no it's not easy to find.
And as far as warranty, goes, it's 100% dependent on who you bought from. If it's from Aloft, T9 etc you'll be sorted in no time, if it's HK, well it's HK.

Re: Taranis now not powering on ???
I actually bought the main board from Aloft but yes, I purchased the radio from HK. I'm going to try and write an email, maybe I can get another main board from warrantee. If I do I guess that's something Again thanks everyone for the help. Seems like ad odd failure no? Anyone know what a possible cause could be? Maybe I plugged it in backwards? I don't see how that's possible. I'm also using a 3S battery. Is that a problem? It worked fine for 2-3 weeks then poof !
As a precaution I am switching the back board too and going back to the stock battery. I was debating on adding the vibration while I'm in here but it doesn't seem like it's getting great reviews.
But I'm going to stick with it. I actually really like the radio and the operating system.

Re: Taranis now not powering on ???
Can you check, with a meter, that one end of R76 is connected reliably to one end of R77?
Maybe inspect the soldering of both R76 and R77 using some magnification.
Using 3S shouldn't be a problem.
Mike.
